Okay, Bethany is 18 and Ian is 14, time for the missus and I to vacate the premises for the weekend. First time leaving the kids alone for an overnighter, but you can't win if you don't try. So Saturday we departed, worry etched on my face, sly little grins on theirs. We headed west in search of treasure in various forms and that's just what we found.
Started out clearing part of a field that the club is going to use for a seeded hunt. Talk about the king of pull tabs, my stock in Alcoa went up mightily with the inventory I pulled out of the ground. My lovely bride was busy pulling nails and other treats from the ground. After a couple of hours of community service, we went hunting in an area where there is a huge flea market. Last time I hunt there I found a silver ring, a necklace with turquoise and a train hat pin. So it was with high expectations that we approached this veritable field of dreams. Well, they say the devil is in the details, and he made an appearance that afternoon. The best item found was the round pin/button? with the pair of initials on it. It has two wires sticking out the back, really do not know what this is so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Saturday evening found us dining with our friends John and Connie. Lovely time chewing the food and the fat. Learn interesting facts about each other, really enjoyed the meal. Afterwards, we were given the tour of the area and John shared a couple of prime detecting spots to remain undisclosed.
Sunday was a beautiful day with a even more beautiful lady. We hunted one area, she got three wheaties and the stone in the setting from a necklace. I found the class ring looking thing with the "90" attached. Thought I had my first class ring, but I am told that this is just a charm. Tried another area without much luck, so it was to the beach. We found the little tiny sandal and the cross and heart pendant there. The cross is sterling silver.
Headed home towards the evening, stopped for a steak dinner and lively conversation. It was a great weekend, we both truly enjoyed it and are eager to do it again. The kids survived, the house was not a smothering ruin and the cats were still fat and sassy. All was good.
I know the finds weren't terribly fantastic, but the time spent together was beyond any treasure we could have dug.
If you have an idea what the round thing with initials is , let me know.
