Adventures this weekend with my bestest friend!!!

Okay, Bethany is 18 and Ian is 14, time for the missus and I to vacate the premises for the weekend. First time leaving the kids alone for an overnighter, but you can't win if you don't try. So Saturday we departed, worry etched on my face, sly little grins on theirs. We headed west in search of treasure in various forms and that's just what we found.

Started out clearing part of a field that the club is going to use for a seeded hunt. Talk about the king of pull tabs, my stock in Alcoa went up mightily with the inventory I pulled out of the ground. My lovely bride was busy pulling nails and other treats from the ground. After a couple of hours of community service, we went hunting in an area where there is a huge flea market. Last time I hunt there I found a silver ring, a necklace with turquoise and a train hat pin. So it was with high expectations that we approached this veritable field of dreams. Well, they say the devil is in the details, and he made an appearance that afternoon. The best item found was the round pin/button? with the pair of initials on it. It has two wires sticking out the back, really do not know what this is so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Saturday evening found us dining with our friends John and Connie. Lovely time chewing the food and the fat. Learn interesting facts about each other, really enjoyed the meal. Afterwards, we were given the tour of the area and John shared a couple of prime detecting spots to remain undisclosed.

Sunday was a beautiful day with a even more beautiful lady. We hunted one area, she got three wheaties and the stone in the setting from a necklace. I found the class ring looking thing with the "90" attached. Thought I had my first class ring, but I am told that this is just a charm. Tried another area without much luck, so it was to the beach. We found the little tiny sandal and the cross and heart pendant there. The cross is sterling silver.

Headed home towards the evening, stopped for a steak dinner and lively conversation. It was a great weekend, we both truly enjoyed it and are eager to do it again. The kids survived, the house was not a smothering ruin and the cats were still fat and sassy. All was good.

I know the finds weren't terribly fantastic, but the time spent together was beyond any treasure we could have dug.

If you have an idea what the round thing with initials is , let me know.

great digs, nice to have that great hunting partner

As long as you get to spend time together, it doesn't matter if you find alot. Joan and I hunt together, and even though we may not be in the exact same spot, we are close by. Sometimes she gets tired, but she just sits and waits for me to get done. Glad you two got out together.

Congrats on getting out and enjoyed time together and for the finds! I believe the little round thing with the initials to be a cuff link but can't see it very well, so could be wrong or could be a special button for a shirt or blouse! Hope you find out what it is and you both get ot go again for some special time of enjoyment together! God Bless!

Bestest friend? Ok not your BFF!
By the way hope the kids got the house looking good, because the huge party was a blast! :super:
I will have to see it up close but round with initials and wires sounds like a lead seal.
Congrats on a great weekend!

we all need to get away once in a while. And in the long run you will remember the times and not so much the finds. steve in so az

Glad yall could get out together. That always makes detecting better when you can go with someone you love.:)

Glad you were able to get away on a little trip! My husband and I try to do this as often as possible. My kids are 22 and 20. It really makes a difference when they get older and don't require your almost constant care and/or supervision. I hope the two of you are able to get away more often now that you have found out that they (and the house and cats) made it OK without you!

A wonderful time by the sounds of it. You are a very fortunate guy to have the wife detect with you. Many, including myself, would love to combine our detecting time with our wife. Sherry used to go with me and take pictures, She doesn't do that any more

Congrats on all the finds and congrats on the alone time.

Pete,

I wish my HUSBAND was more interested in treasure hunting with me! He has been on a few hunting trips with me (various types of treasures), but just doesn't care anything about it. I think he really enjoyed gem mining, but that's about it. I wish he did enjoy it and would go with me more, but since he doesn't, I'd really rather he stay home! Because if he goes with me and doesn't enjoy it, then I feel rushed and uncomfortable with him being there. I have a cousin who is also a good friend and fellow teacher - THAT's who usually goes with me, or, I just go by myself.
