After a few days with a new SE...

I am amazed that people say the F75 is noisy. My SE false's more than my F75. I am sure it is a great machine and I will say that it does not false so bad on every site but on some it really does. That is running in factory default or iron mask.

I only have a few days on it am by no means giving up. I did go to an old school last week where I have never found anything mch at all and found 6 quarters, three dimes, and a few pennies... all clad but still. I haven't found anything old yet but that may well be because of the sites I am hunting and because we are in a 100 year draught. Still, I think the F75 is more stable, at least on the site I was on today.

This coming week I am going to find some old coins and relics with it!

I have a question though... what is with the arpeggio sounds It make's all the time? What's that?

Some have complained about the coil that comes with the SE and put on the other Explorers stock coil. If you are able to try a different coil then that might help.

I do not think they are available but in any case, I am not giving up. I cleaned out my cover and will go again. It does not false so bad in some places. It seem's to not do too good in really heavy trash or heavy iron but it is more dependable than my F75 which broke after three weeks. The SE seem's to be really well made and I DO like it, I love the tones.

By an arpeggio tone I mean this: when it sound's like a musical scale starting at a lower note and quickly running up the scale 5 or 6 notes, as if you ran your finger quickly up several piano keys. Does your do that a lot?

Why does it do that, is it normal?

Also in some places it seem's to work really well in trash and in others not well at all. In one place it work's well there is a lot of iron too, I don't get it.

But I am NOT giving up, ever... so don't think that! I will stay with it until I am good with it because I KNOW it is a good machine.

I think maybe it should be sponsored by Ibuprofen though, laff.

I recently bought a F-75 after years of using the explorer. Pretty sure what you are hearing is normal. Explorer is much noisier than the 75, but all those noises are trying to tell you somethiing. And once you get used to them and learn how different targets/target combinations move on the smart screen display you fwill ind the ID capability to be the best out there. I does take lots of practice and patience and experience however.

I've tried the 75 with disc zero and DP sounds and even then it is much more quiet than the explorers.

i'm also new to the SE. and yes, the noise was a bit much for me so i am starting out with a narrow discrimination pattern--pretty much the upper right-hand corner--because i'm interested in finding old silver, and not much else. really, the only falsing i have to deal with amounts to really thick aluminum bits, and the usual heavy copper wire pieces.

i have also dug a few nails and other heavy ferrous targets, but i believe that there is a "clipping" or "chirping" sound associated with these, and if i was more careful, i would realize that they are bad targets before i dig. when i have a questionable target, i switch to IRON MASK and i can usually sort it out. when i find silver, real silver, there is usually little doubt in my mind before i dig. at this point, i'm not willing to dig all the trash out of the ground just to satisfy my curiosity.

i'll open up my pattern in clean ground, but i usually hunt parks. the SE definitely finds things that other detectors have missed!

I agree with you - the explorers have the best target id of any detector made to date. As a test of the explorer Se 's ability to clear a site out i recently worked a 30 foot by 15 foot grass land site out all good sounding signals with an explorer SE . I also dug many iffy signals which were mostly trash targets with the odd coin coming out of the hole with a piece of trash. All the targets left were foil signals and iron signals. Once i was happy i had cleared the site out of all good targets which included 200 coins and 2 ringsi tried a few other detectors over the same patch of land 5 days on the trot i could find nothing but foil and pull tabs plus a few rusty bottle caps. The SE did miss a group of coins close to the surface however , the reason was the top coin was a large ferrous coin with some nickels buried just below the ferrous coin , i had been using the SE with ferrous coins rejected which i guess caused the SE to null out the coins. Its always best to accept ferrous coins because this will allow other coins close to the ferrous coin to be detected. If you want to really work a site out hard then i advise anyone to accept ferrous coins.. I have pounded this site really really hard with the SE and i can say that the se has missed close to nothing!. I would guest it got 99% of all good targets and Gave a very accurate ID off all the remaining trash targets. On target id it is the best detector ever made easy.. Once you have worked a site out with the explorers virtually nothing good will be left for any one else.. A real evil coin shooter!!!!
