I read and hear of alot of guys using all metal most of the time and digging every thing ..... time wise is this productive....are you finding keepers.....what are some of your good finds from iron readings
Thanks for sharing info good luck and God bless.....Dan

in all metal you get a deeper signal this is the area you find most gold rings - in all metal you can get the faint variations in tones that you wont get in reject - i then flick into reject if it nulls out its iron if there is no change i take a plug out then try reject again.

ive tried am mode and all i ever had found is junk...no gold..but in disc mode ive found gold and silver..less junk...just seems to work this way for me..:detecting::clapping::minelab:

There is a specific method used for hunting in the all-metal mode.....this is what I use with the excalibur whenever I can....here is a video or two that will illustrate that....

cool videos surfdigger.....thanks for sharing info...gotta get one of those big scoops also....nice finds ...hh....Dan

its better to dig and know then to pass it up and wonder-besides your no in a race.I like following people who think they need to beat every body to the end of beach.stay back and detect in his tracks pulling the loot as hes got most trash picked out.go slow ,enjoy the day and you'll be surprised how much better ya do

I so the same. What I really like is when I am using all metal mode, then switch to disc and leave it on disc in an area that keeps getting "hits."

Get in about 6 months of good discriminating detecting , learn your machine first, Then when you get a beach with very few targets, go for the AM Mode. Has it helped me, I hunt in this mode 90 percent of the time and it has increased my finds when there is a beach with tuff conditions. It is more of a diffused field and turns the little 800 into a deeper, wider field of coverage...Good Luck...joe

Thanks again Joe....I see what you are saying.......hh.....Dan

Just curious why you didn't show any video from down at the waters edge, maybe you tried and there wasn't any signals. Surfdigger, I believe this is one of your better Video's. Hope you start finding some Silver Coins. I was skunked during the storm in November at the Outer Bank's, Alot of coin and no Silver either.. Good Luck- Goldnugget-Charlotte,N.C. Goldnugget

Yes we tried from the high tide line down to the water. The dune area was the only place we from clad. Believe me Brian(Surfdigger) and I put plenty of time in on that beach

Vfr800....Thank you guys for the videos it inspires us gotta get the excall 11 soon.....hh.....Dan
keep up the good work.

:detecting::minelab:ok heres my update to this question, i went out yesterday and tried the am mode with threshold up a bit more than i usually do cause it was a bit windy ,but i did hear a very faint change i checked in disc and got no change or sounds other than threshhold so i dug about 16 inces and out poped a cheap earring, but this is first time i had this happen, it does have my intrest now so ill continue to try this mode and see what happens and ill update...

I was out the other day and the beach's are very sanded in. When i was hunting i got very little trash so i used all metal, the end result was about 20 clad coins, 2 deep silver coins and 1 heavy men's 14k wedding band. If i wasn't using all metal i would not have found that band because it didn't signal in disc. when i checked it. Reverse hunting does take patience it may not be for everyone but in the past week 3 gold rings came from AM detecting...........HH

Thats exactly what your looking for John. Your gonna find more junk but you can normally just disc that stuff out. If you get a deep tone that doesnt change the threshold in disc, you have heavy (or older) items just under the Excal disc layer. I have dug jewelry and coin between 18- 20" with this method.
