A buddy stopped by today to show me his new fishing rod and reel. I suggested that we find out if it would catch fish.
We went along the shore where the old steam boats used to tie up, and I thought about how many times I detected there, looking for maybe a silver dollar lost over board, but to no avail. We caught a few fish.
While walking up the shore, I kept my eye out for maybe an ax head or mastodon tooth. All of a sudden, there it was! - a shiny new Washington quarter!! Just laying there. I picked it up.
Now, the question is: Should I have done all this research and detecting, or just gone fishing instead? I ended up finding more fishing than detecting.
What do you guys think?
