American diggers ... What a joke!

Has anyone out there seen this show ? If anything will give the hobby a bad name it's this show. Have you seen the way they dig ? They just rip the heck out of things and the stuff they find is worth big bucks. Funny how most people have used metal detectors for years and years and never come across stuff like that. The last show they found a air filter holder from a car and just by chance there's a sack of old coins in it with a medieval cross in it also.... Come on get real !..lol

Just a thought, if I was an Archaeologist, and I wanted to stop my competition, these American digger shows?

Haven't seen any of the recent tecter shows.. But you can bet.. If they seem to be
showing a lot of quick high $$$ grabs, they are probably showing quick clips of success
that were caught in the middle of hours and hours of mediocre run of the mill finds..
Including a lot of trash.
The fishing shows are the same type of deal.. :/
I wouldn't put anything past many of those weasels in Hollywood.. Including planting
high $$$ finds, when the real finds are nothing but junk.
I think I'll stick to my own personal detecting show.. The ratings are low, but I get
to keep the goodies.

I caught the episode with the sack of old coins and cross last night, and thought that particular find was very suspicious. The coins were Spanish silver pieces and the cross supposedly dated from the crusades, even though they were digging in Detroit. That show is a serious danger to our hobby; here's hoping that it doesn't last more than one season.

Someone could notify the IRS, as that spanish silver is taxable as is the Cross. Ask Mel Fisher. Since it is not legal U.S. currency that can be considered face value coinage, as long as it is not sold for higher than face value. The spanish coins/cross are vauled & taxed at current market value, be it the metal content or collectors market value. Hmmm, maybe they will tell the IRS it wasn't a real find (a prop) to avoid taxes....or let the public know if they paid taxes on these finds and how much they paid in taxes. Provided it for for real......lol. Oh, and then their are historical ownership claims that can be filed...even if current land owner gave permission. Actually, all of the items they are finding of any purported value is taxable. Glad they have it on video. Makes the IRS' job easier.

I was very excited to start watching this program at first and now hmmmm not so much. It's just another staged show that has a high $$$ ending. Take any 4 hunters from this forum, go out and shoot some video of a days hunt and it would be way better and more exciting to watch.

I agree with you DY there's some great hunters here that could do better than them, I thought that when they said there were some of the best hunters in the world was a little zealous! I think the things found were planted there about a year ago it make it look authentic and believable.

It just makes you sick, even my wife was laughing saying what a crock! I had taped it thank goodness so i could skip through it and then delete it, not worth watching or taping again, hope others don't either and it DIES!!!!!!!

It needs to sink to the abyss and forgotten!

all the shows that are popping up every week are completely fake. they are produced, scripted, staged, planned, constructed and crap. i guess you can tell i'm not happy with them.

Agreed! I tried to give that show a chance but it is definitely a staged production. The whole " Boom Baby" bit is cheesy as well!
