American diggers ... What a joke!

These characters are going to give us all a very bad name---I think most od this show is staged GordP

Yes it's a joke and a bad joke to boot. Show's like this RUIN this hobby and are set up by the producers and the directors and I now refuse to watch this reality show crap and tell everyone I know that this show is set up and should and will only last a season if and when the word gets out... if know one watches it they will pull it from bad ratings. I wish there was some way to get in touch with the executives at the History Channel and tell them they are ruining a great hobby...IMHO, Woodstock
Maybe we all should contact all the manufactures and have them do it too !

Ok, Ive remained silent on these shows long enough, here's my two cents(though worth far less then face value lol).

1. I'm interested to know when his "recovery" company came into being a business....perhaps a month or two before filming began? Just a guess on my part but with all the research into huntable lands around me, I have no time to invest into that.

2. The host was a PROFESSIONAL WRESTLER.....in the time when they still pretended that wrestling was real!!!! Is it really that far of a stretch to think that he would now be faking finds rather then fights? I leave you to be the judge of that, but I sure know where my bets would be placed!

As for the other show, well, after sampling "Boom Baby!" I didn't have the stomach to even attempt it.

HH all

Mudd....two Ds lol

Just watched the San Augustine Florida dig, what a joke! They dug no more than 15 inches and recovered stuff that was supposedly from when the Spanish built San Augustine up to the civil war. did anyone else notice that the edge of the knife wasn't rusted? yet it was supposed to be over 300 years in the ground!I lived in Florida as a child I lost my dads hunting knife in the the garden found it 3 years later, it was too rusted to repair. soooo much salt in the ground. Every single artifact located has to be a plant. Rick Savage has a 100% success rate with his digs...... HHHHMMmmm .....Can you say RED FLAG! He gives true diggers a bad name, Rick Savage brought the phony hype of wrestling to American Diggers.

Maybe we should get together an contact the powers to be an complain by sitting here doing nothing we are allowing our name to be raked across the coals !! we have power in numbers . We need to come together an fight this crap!!! does anyone esle have anything to say on this. .

Welcome to america where almost everything is backwards. Its all about the dollar bill. Its to bad. It really is. For me. I believe in heaven and hell and I believe one day so many will be in for a real shock. Just my opinion.

This show is really bad for us. They have zero respect. They dig like idiots, throw junk finds into the bushes, destroy property, and make detectorists look like buffoons. Here are some things to think about:

1. "American Savage" is not the business they make it look like.
2. They operate from home, their fake "headquarters" is the background of J.S. Mosby Civil War Antiques owned by Steve Sylvia
3. His website all about exposing fake relics is http://www.savage-station.com looks like he is familiar with faking things, especially being a "pro wrestler"
4. Digging up pristine and unrealistic things that don't make sense
5. Ric was just asked to stop writing his column for American Digger Magazine (no relation to the reality show of the same name), the magazine wanted no ties to him
6. In the Chicago episode, the "cops" that show up, freak out, and threaten to arrest Ric and his crew--actually the cast of the reality show "Paranormal Cops"
7. Ric is a dumbass
8. Selling the "recovered relics" for ridiculously inflated prices
9. The vast majority of people Ric approaches seem to get bad vibes from him and ask him to get lost
10.Asking for an insulting 80/20 financial split
11.Yelling "BOOM BABY!!!" and causing a scene
12.I need to stop, this list could go on forever...

I think the number 1 thing that bothers me is the blatant disregard four our (the viewers) intelligence. These "finds" are obviously fake. Here are two examples:

Ric gets permission to search what was once an ice cream parlour, with possible ties to organized crime in the 20's. He proceeds to find exactly what he needs to make a good episode. He found a baby bathtub for making alcohol, a speakeasy era belt coin changer, a mini roulette wheel for illegal gambling, a dagger with knuckles on it (say, look here, you talkin' to me pal?) and a ledger with info to tie it all together. Oh, and the safe that held the 90 year old ledger was behind a wall that was only maybe 25 years old.

How about in Florida...in one yard they find all the makings of a pirate movie. A Spanish blade, a 'thunder mug' cannon, a 150 year old explosive, a colonial era crucifix, and a large "splash" (melted Spanish gold coins) of SOLID GOLD.

I am already sick of hearing people in my area say things like "You detect eh? Like those guys on American diggers?". I am nothing like those guys.

P.S. here is Ric's email address. He posted it, looking for feedback. Feel free to email him and let him know what a great job he is doing!

How is it that Savage can Id everyone of the finds, know how old they are, and exactly how much they're worth? I've watched a couple shows and I've never seen him not be able to id something or not know their value. Either it's staged (the most likely answer) or they stop filming while he researches for the information. It's impossible to be that successful week in and week out. It appears that they do some really good background research on the locations they hunt, but we all know that promising sites do not allows pan out. The last show I watched, one of the guys dug up some trash and just threw it into the weeds. Cannot stand watching it anymore. I keep track of the episodes just in case they are somewhere close to me. I may watch that one just to get some ideas for hunting spots.

I found a match holder the other day that dates back to the eighteen hundreds, any takers for five thousand?

All I can say is "Boom Baby" hopefully next season is a bust.

yup i agree with all of you its all just a big set up nobody finds stuff like that all the time. just like when they found the cannon at the bottom of the small lake next to that guys house bs
