An application that takes the Exchange Program to the next level

In case anyone is interested in trying an application that builds on what the Minelab program was not able to build into when it was released, here is a site you may want to check out and experiment with . . . . . . it has some promise to make the computer connectivity a useful feature for the E-Trac rather than simply a conduit to store settings from your detector.

Thanks for the link Andy. I was just fooling around with it for a little bit and seems like a handy tool for creating and saving patterns. I havnt downloaded a saved pattern to mt ETrac yet to see if that end works, but I supect it will.

I think I ran into this before, but it is a really nice app for making patterns!

I just started using my E-trac and I'm loving it. I haven't dove into patterns yet, just trying to get the basics down, but patterns are on my list :)

Can you guys recommend a good place to download pattens?

Thanks!
Brian

I dont think I've ever ran across "one" place where everyone shares their patterns per say, but have you been to the following link?

Thanks BlackZ51Vett.

I loaded Andy's coin program into the awesome Jan Hrase E-Trac Manager application to see what it looked like.

Am I correct in that this program will not hit a coin that comes in as a 01/40-41 (which is what a Morgan and Peace silver dollar would hit as)?

Looks to me as if everything FE from 01-08 is rejected? Other then silver dollars, it looks like he has the old U.S. coins covered with his pattern.

Thanks,
Brian

Brian,

Not sure which file you have but the one I have posted accepts that region of the scale to ensure the larger silver coins are accepted.

Hi Andy,

You are right, I totally read the graph wrong :drinking:

My apologies, I see the error of my way :)

Thank you!
Brian

I haven't touched the exchange software in over a year. What does this do differently?

It easily allows you to create or modify programs, and then load them into your E-trac. Apparently the Minelab software will only allow you to save/load programs that were actually created on the E-trac.

That was a comment raised during the E-Trac development in that the program only allowed programs created on the detector to be saved to the computer and not the other way around. During that time - more than 2 years ago - the word from Minelab was that the next version of the Exchange program would provide that functionality but a new version has not materialized yet from Minelab but in fact it did from an individual that allows for making patterns on the PC and uploading them to the E-Trac.

Well, all I can say is, "it's about time!" I thought the original software was pretty useless, which is why I never used it.

Here's a tip for using the new application, which although amazingly has provided something that Minelab wasn't able to for whatever reasons, still has a ways to go, as there are several options that appear as though you should be able to utilize them, but they are greyed out. Jan has a stand alone pattern editor, but if you want to access it from the E-trac manager you'll need to do the following:

From the Modes tab, click Edit Pattern which will bring up the Pattern Editor. From there, click Import, then pick your pattern, and it'll bring it into the program. Make any changes, or not, and click Accept Changes and Close Editor at the top of the screen to load it into the E-trac manager app. From there you should be able load it onto your E-trac, although I haven't tried that part yet.

I don't know if Jan uses Findmall, but I sent him an email to thank him for the applications.

HH,
Brian

Ah ha, it has to be connected! Thanks for taking the time to post here Jan, that's awesome :clapping:

You just gotta love the internet....I knew back when we were using 300 baud modems that someday it would be big

Happy hunting,
Brian
