Well, its two hunts in a row for finding big rings and neither being gold or silver. Although, the one this morning was a pretty neat find. I went out to the old Military housing site this morning. Although pickings have gotten slim there, once in a while with slow and careful sniffing a silver still crops up. The 1945 Filipinas Ten Centavos was one of those should I dig, or not. It was a mix to tones and id numbers, but I would occasionally get a high tone chirp, so I decided to dig it. Besides the nickel and 2 Memorial cents shown with the Centavos, the hole yielded 2 more Memorial cents and another nickel. Just a few inches away I got another mixed tone hit and that turned out to be the USN ring. It does have some marking on the inside of which the last six letters are yadium. There are at least 3 other letters before those, but I just can't make them out even with my magnifier. Had the 10" DD coil on again this morning. HH jim tn

Way to go Jim.

Neat silver coin find. What's the ring made of if it's not silver or gold? It looks great!

I laid in today to refuel.

Interesting! A multi denom spill with a alternate Country coin tossed in...I don't know what that big ring could be comprised of...it sure didn't rot, and it sort of looks goldish..maybe ***yadium is the guys name?:rofl: no k mark so its most likely some sort of junk metal huh? Could it be Palladium? which is 700 bucks per oz neighborhood.
Mud.

I don't know guys, the ring just doesn't have that precious metal look. Kind of like tarnished in spots and said spots don't come off with soda, soap, or vinegar. I am going to test it here shortly. Whatever, it is 18 grams of something. HH jim tn

PALLADIUM:
A Palladium finish closely resembles White Gold. It is a bright
gray-white finish with high tarnish resistance, and is a good alternative to rhodium as a
less expensive finish. Palladium is resistant to oxidation except when exposed to
sulfur-containing substances, has a medium to hard finish, and is resistant to most
scratching. Palladium comes from platinum, nickel, and copper mining.

Nice ring and good find..

Nice hunting Jim, and beaut ring. Whatever it is made from, it looks good. Sounds like a spot where you need to dig all smallish signals. HH Pete
