Another Coil Question

mdunn

New member
I have done a search but haven't found what I'm looking for which is the learned opinion on this board between the White coils and the Excelerator after market brand.
I'm thing of buying the 4 x 6 eclipse but I'm not finding it anywhere.
I see the 6 x 10 at Kelly's but not the 4 x 6.
How does the Excelerator 4.5 x 7 compare? ( other then a pretty high price for the exceleartor)
Thanks

I have never heard of anyone using the 4.5X7 on the White's, in fact, I didn't even know Kellyco made one for White's detectors until now. The 4X6 is very popular and I would think any White's dealer can get one for you or order directly from White's. I'm sure Kellyco would have them in stock as well, give them a call. I might also suggest using the Classifieds with a WTB ad.

Here you go from kellyco Just got one last week. 1 EACH 960-8013219 4X6'' ECLIPSE SHOOTER DD 126.95

I've read pros and cons on several forums. Some really like the Excellerators, but I've seen a couple of comments where people had bad luck with them. I don't know if the support is there after they've been used a while compared to Whites. Personally, I prefer to stick with Whites due to the great support.

I decided to order the 6 x 10 Eclipse.
I'm doing more trashy open field work then working fence lines, etc.
Right or wrong that's what I did.
Thanks for the replies.

You will be happy with that one...........nice coil and will work well in all but the most trashiest of places.

good choice, a great all-rounder

I'm hoping so. I was a little hesitant because if you read the little blurb that pops up on the Kelly site it just talks about gold.
I'd be happy to find gold but wondered about it's other characteristics.
So now I have the 9.5 Eclipse that came with the MXT, a 6" Excelerator and the new 6 x 10 on the way.
Thanks again.
Should be good for now.

Hey mdunn for what it's worth,on the first hunt with my 6x10 I found my first gold ring and it was in a spot that I would not have found it with the stock coil. I've found it to be a great all around coil in many circumstances. I have also found the depth to be very good in my soil ( mid 40's to low 70's ). Used it today and got solid accurate signals on clad to 7" and was also getting pretty good signals reading as deep as 9-10" but I didn't dig those today. Be sure you have the ground balance set correctly and that the audio discrimination is stable. I learned this from Jeff Foster's book on the MXT and have noticed a significant increase in the depth on all my coils. Hope that helps. Good luck.

I never used the excellerator, but comparing the 6x10 with the stock 9.5 coil all I can tell you is that Im getting better depth with the 6x10, I found my first pieces of jewelry with it and my coin finds increased more than twice, so I would say this is a great multi-purpose coil, would be good for prospecting but not only

Im sure you will love it, people say it is hard to pinpoint but I don't think so, you can pinpoint with the front edge of the coil, or use the space bellow the "I" of eclipse as a mark, this last one is my favorite method :detecting:
