Another E-Trac on its way

Bowie

New member
Well, Ive fought this, I think for about two years. I even bought Andys book a couple years back and have read thru it several times. Got the best of me, Ive got one coming, thanks Bart for your help.
OK, I also ordered the X8 Sunray coil and I see most of you use the 8X6 SEF but after reading Bryce's coil report, I decided to go with the Sunray. Any of you use this coil??
I will get the 5 incher, once I have my feet under me. Dont really want to hit some of my nasty spots for now.
I was reading a reply by RayMo from the results Tom did on a E-Trac for a forum member. Ray, stated that he will hit targets while his E-Trac has been in a null for a period of time. Do you experience this, Im thinking, wow.
If you do can some of you relate your hunt, site, machine set up and coil used. I very much appreciate it. Im very excited to say the least.
Thanks,
John

I use the Sunray X8 coil on mine. Made the machine feel a lot lighter and still get excellent depth.

John,
A machine like the E-Trac, that has an audible threshold, nulling simply means your coil is over a Target that you have discriminated out and the audible threshold is silent during that time. If you are in heavy trash using discrimination the E-Trac will null a lot, that doesn't mean you won't hear a good targets. I hunt in areas that are full of iron and I have chosen to use two tone ferrous with no discrimination. That suits my style better, not to say I would find more than someone using conductive sounds with discrimination, it is just how I like to do it. You will see many reports of great finds while the E-Trac is nulling. It is a great versatile machine. Good luck.

heya iskirka. Yes, I have had detectors with a threshold and know somthing disced out will null. I was curious about how well the E-Trac will respond on a target while in the null. I hunt a lot of sites with iron all in the ground. Dont hunt much in parks and school yards, but who knows, maybe the E-Trac will change my mind on those sites as well. Low and slow, got that part. I am looking forward using TTF with enough disc to disc out nails.
John

Sorry John, I thought this was your first detector, I should have looked at the number of posts you had. The places I hunt the E-Trac will null constantly until I get far enough away from the site that the iron clears up a little. That is why I use TTF, but I am going to start doing some test. When I find a target in TTF, switch over to Andy's coin program and see what happens. Good Luck and look forward to your posts.

Randy

heya iskirkra, nothing to be sorry about, I really appreciate your help and anyone elses. Sorry I misspelled your name. Yes, I am really interested in the TTF for hunting those old plantation sites I go to. Do you use an open screen in those iron filled places or do you use a tad of disc , maybe enough to knock out some nails?
Thanks,
John

I use the Sunray X-8 and really like it and I have had some success lately using it at iron laden sites and using TTF, I did a couple of posts last week about my results using it.

That is why most people really like the Etrac. If you set it to Ground Difficult (not really anything to do with this but recommended in Andy's book for land hunting, Normal for beach sand and plowed fields) and Trash High if there is a good target and you go over an area and get nulling it will still let that good targets signal come through in the middle of the null. If there is a couple of targets close together you will get a few tones at once so it alerts you when you hear that nice higher sounding tone in Multitones as that is where the silver sound is 44 - 45 and up usually on the Conductive scale but don't always go by that go by the sounds first.

I have an x8 and its super on the eTrac and the SE, I've dug plenty of deep silver with it. I thought about selling it in favor of the 8x6 SEF but it
