Another strange ring from the Beach.

Today I went to the beach and found this ring. I used the Equinox 600 and it rang up as a 8 on the meter.

It is a strange ring because one small side of the ring is flat and has a gold colour the rest of the ring looks white gold or a silver colour..

The inside of the ring has a small hole and it says 18. Nothing else only 18.

Could it be 18k white gold perhaps. ??

The weight of the ring is 5,1 gram.

Andre

It is not possible to do a gold test with acid on white gold.

But I think you are right that 18 is the ring size.

Certainly worth getting check out..8 certainly is within the gold range..I don’t se any discoloration so it could be a winner..nice find..

The hole on the inside probably held a stone at one time. A specific gravity test will tell the type of metal.

Is it magnetic?? I have one that is marked 18k Mine is Obviously not gold on the outside. Mine is magnetic. I suspect that mine is a lightly magnetic stainless steel with a layer of 18k where the finger would rub.

If 18 is a size that person sure had big fingers or used a different sizing system. Great find either way.

I took a strong magnet and found that the ring is slightly magnetic.
