Another upgrade issue

You guys may want to check your Display backlight by accident I checked mine and it doesn't work. My machine was upgraded the middle of December and I bought it new in March of 2014. The backlight did work before before the upgrade, I seen it many late evening hunt.

I hope it is just mine.

Ron,
you got me going into the dark closet to check.
I am A Ok. Light comes on immediately when I turn the switch.
So mine is ok.

My original camo LTD with a January (1-15 in the serial number) update does light up the back light. Just checked it with the room lights off. Guess you need to call them.

I'm hoping the weather breaks soon so I can do more than just use it to sort zinc from copper cents. This record setting cold winter is getting old for me and I am certainly not getting any younger.
Cheers,
tvr

I'd be happy if I could just shut mine off!

Still cannot believe they made a backlight that's always on, dumb.

Always on is better than always off. LOL

Looks like I may bet the only one, just a fluke. I will pack it up and call FT Monday or Tuesday. I feel better now, I was starting feel left out, everybody else was getting to send theirs in 2 or 3 times for upgrade problems.

Base on my air test numbers should I say anything about the AM issue?

Hey Ron, your numbers looks about average, however I've seem some phenomenal air test claims. I read one guy stating that he was hitting a nickle at 22" in AM. D@MN! I'd like to get close to that. I guess we'll see when I get mine back.

I believe that 22" was with a 13" ultimate coil, not the stock. Still hard to believe though!

I called FT yesterday (Monday) and I got her all boxed up waiting on a shipping label.

I didn't get any instructions, anybody know if I need to put my old upgrade order number on the box? Being they only need to work on the back light I only boxed up the 11" coil, do they need all Fisher coils like the first go around?

How long should I wait for this label before calling back? On the first send I got my label in about an hour.

What don't you like about the backlight always being on?? It's a low level, non battery severe draining feature... I always liked that feature of it being on.

Have you noticed an issue some of us may have missed with it being on all the time ???.

I installed a Turnigy backlight in a radio control transmitter I use (one that operates on four AA batteries) that had no backlight. Makes immeasurable difference in battery useful operation whether it's on or off.

It's not even what you would consider a LED. It's a little wafer that slides behind the liquid crystal display and glows. Draws 60 mA. By comparison at a 100 mA load one Energizer AA cell lasts 2200 hours. http://data.energizer.com/PDFs/E91.pdf

Well it is on it's way back to the mother ship, for repairs.

Did they say they were fixing it under the upgrade program? My second return label was sent right away as I was talking to Juan. I also had to put my org. upgrade # on the box. Try calling and talking to Juan, being it happened on the upgrade.

Shooter,

You are 100% correct it went back under the upgrade with the orginal upgrade number on the box.

Thanks,

Looking at your air test..Looks like you will be hitting 6 -7" coins in the actual ground.. Maybe on occasion one a little deeper depending on the coin..

Elton,

You are right on with your numbers, I have found a few on the high side of 7" but most good silver is coming in on the high side of 5" to 7", unless I am in the woods and the silver there has been running 3" or less.

In West Virginia mineralized soil that is darn good depth my friend.. In areas where coal is located it's just plane awesome.
