Any Compass Detector Enthusiasts these days????

silverseeker 2

Well-known member
When I first started detecting in 2000 I was really drawn on their History. (Compass)
They made some really Great detectors for the times and had many, many, models.
Me I own 5 different models. Have sold off a couple of other ones I had.
Just curious if anybody out there still uses a Compass metal detector full or part time just to break up always using the same detector????? Can't go wrong with a Good working Compass detector in my opinion. Thanks to all that reply here and Good Hunting...

Oh hell ya, I've owned 2 of them, tho its been a coons age since I've had them. If memory serves me, ( not sure any more ) the first one w as the coinscanner and then the coinscanner pro II ( maybe ).. I know I sent one of them off to a guy in Texas to do a calibration on the unit. Got it back, worked fine, just not sure if there was any more depth to be seen on the unit.
The consensus was to buy the ones that had the red outine around the sticker on the side of the control box. The black outline ones were made later after the fire at the factor and weren't ( supposedly ) as good as the earlier ones.

As said this is going back probably at least 20 yrs so I may be off a bit on what I wrote.

Cheers Mark ( ohio )

Still like useing the Coin Pro II. Love the tones. Have quite a few Compass detectors.
Well made and good detectors.

I started out with the 320, must have been in 1983. Went with the Relic Magnum 7 for a few years. Graduated to the Challenger X80 after that. That line was way ahead of its time but was a big Ole lumber wagon to swing. Found alot of silver with that machine

Hey there beau61,
That's one heck of a collection you have there!!! I own a few of those detectors
you have pictured there. I'm Envious. Beautiful Detectors all in great condition.
APPRECIATE YOUR RESPONSE AND THE PICTURES. What's your favorite Compass to use? Mine is the Compass Xp350. Works great and it's Simplicity at its Finest. My Gold Scanner Pro is another favorite along with the Au52 which is about as Rare as you can find. I own 2 Au52's but each machine requires machine specific coils as Compass varied them in production I believe. I have 5 different coils for that detector. Anyway Thanks for posting.
Seems like you and I have some of the same Interests. Take care and Wish you the best!!!

I had a Compass Gold Scanner pro. It was a good machine but I was limited to 3 hours of hunting before I had to put Three nine volt batteries in it. Sometime I look on E-bay to see if there any for sale.

Hey Beau61, just curious as to how many yrs you have been in the hobby to amass such a collection of detectors ? I started in 1994 myself, and I suppose if I had kept all the detectors I bought since then, my picture might be pretty similar to yours... tho my wife would have flipped out yrs ago if I had them scattered around the basement or spare bedroom. As stated, I've had to compass units yrs ago and I felt they were really decent units for that time period.

Nice collection. Mark ( ohio )

Hi Mark, late 70’s I got into it, got a Garrett ADS Deepseeker with 5 coils for $100. Found many treasures with it as most ground was virgin territory. That was the start, have 147 detectors now, only 2 not working.

It is a time capsule, from analog to digital, love taking them all out for a hunt. My main one now my Deus II, have the Deus I,Manticore, and Nox as back up.

Sorry, didn’t mean to takeover posts.
I’ve always been a big fan of Compass detectors, have 23 different models of Compass detectors. Used different Scanners for years. They were and are good detectors.
