Any news on the new F75LTD 5"x10DD coil ?

Has anyone got a line on the availability of the new 5"x10"DD coil for F75 LTD?
Haven't heard much about it lately.....

I'm pretty sure it's being manufactured now, but it's possible that not all dealers have them.

When a product shows up on eBay sooner than you can find it through AUTHORIZED DISTRIBUTION, .......... put your thinking cap on, then remember carefully the following words: "If there's a problem, your recourse is through the vendor."

Dave, in your opinion will this new coil be less affected by EMI in comparison to the 11" stock DD coil?

In general smaller searchcoils are quieter than larger ones of the same configuration (in this case, both elliptical DD's). So yes, that would be my expectation: however I wouldn't expect the difference to amount to much.

Thanks for chiming in on this Dave. I was beginning to think that Fisher just conceded the medium sized coil to the aftermarket.

For myself, the closed 10x5 is much more desired. I hope to see some more dealers carrying the coil soon.
 
Still no word about the 5x10 elliptical.

I would think that ir any of the dealers on the board had them in, we would of heard about it by now.

In my experience most dealers are more worried about selling machines. If you want a new coil you have to hound them.
 
You might want to take a second look at the Ebay offering. Bet my last clad quarter it is for the Gold Bug. Fisher has a 5"x10 DD for the Gold Bug but this coil will not work on the F70/F75. Seems strange, though, they have had this Gold Bug coil for some time now so I wonder what the hold up would be. Seems they could take the Gold Bug coil and retune it for the F70;F75 and walla, there it is? I stopped waiting and got my hands on a NEL 5".9.5" Sharpshooter for $120 and it came with a coil cover and works great on my F70. Found a couple of rings with it on the first couple of outings. All of settings and reading are exactly the same as the 11"DD so no learning curve. It air tests within 1" of the 11" DD which really surprised me. I use the 11" DD mostly because it covers the search area faster and a touch deeper. I pull out the Sharpshooter when I spot a tight area of a really trashy area, like around picnic tables. Because it came with a coil cover I also use it in gravel parking lots. :detecting:
 
Even though the coil on ebay has the F75 logo, I'm not ready to go that route yet.
If I can't find one, I'll either get a sharpshooter or the 11 inch DD.

My patience is running low so I'll probably make a decision soon.
 
My wife told me tonight that there was a brown box waiting at the door today, with my name on it.

The 5 x 10 on my Gold Bug is a great coil.

On a F75 in boost mode could be a great combo. I would hope its close in depth to the stock coil
while running a little smoother. :thumbup:
 
When I tried it on a GBP, I thought it was a perfect match. I'm hoping it will be as good on the F70. But until I lay eyes on it, I'm not getting my hopes up. I finally have a "sandbox" to test in. I should be able to evaluate it for my needs.
 
Arrived yesterday, and after a 12hr night shift and another 2hr commute home, I see this. ..
