Any news on whats new coming for the Deus?

Andy Sabisch said:
The V4.0 update offers a number of features / enhancements that will work with both the current three coils as well as the new elliptical coil. You do NOT have to buy the elliptical coil to be able to use most of the V4.0 0features but if you have a need for what the coil offers, you will need it to unlock all of the 4V4.0 functions.

Depending on the type of hunting you do, the new coil might not be a required upgrade path.

Rumors seem to take on a life of their own and the multi-frequency / updates required for coils vs. the detector / prices / what is in V4.0 are examples of that . . . . both will be released when the field trials confirm they work as desired by Alain and his team. He is not willing to release soemthign on a set date and find out it is not ready. There are other items in the works that will further compliment and expand the Deus going forward.

Andy, you are very accurate to your statements. I imagine to use the added frequencies the new coil will be required.
Interesting to say the least.

I know the new coil will work with these higher frequencies but will they also work with the lower ones 4, 8, 12 etc ?

Once V4 is released and its all said and done will new machines start shipping with say 11" or 9" coils that have been updated to work on all the new frequencies ?

Will existing owners be able to send in their old 11" or 9" coils and have them updated to work on the new frequencies ?

Or will these new high frequencies only ever be available on this one new coil ?

I know, no one knows for sure and those that do can't say.............

I am gonna say the new coil will only run at the new frequencies and the old coils will run only run at the old frequencies.

But I've been wrong before!

You won't get an accurate answer to that one until right before or after the release of all the hype.

I think you are likely right, there are lots of rumors around here and there and a few are I think confirmed like the new high frequency coil and the cache hunter coil, I think there are a few "leaks" but you won't know for sure until the dam breaks.

I have seen on a couple of places there will be an app to allow you to connect your smatphone and track find points etc, personally I don't really think this is a very useful feature, the technology for consumer grade GPS is just not accurate enough yet, I don't know how helpful it will be to know that, that silver quarter was found somewhere in a 15 foot diameter circle. If it could plot it within a couple of inches it would be useful not 15 feet. I tested my Sony phone the other day using the app GPS Essentials and it gave me an accuracy of just under 10 feet, maybe good enough to plot hotspots but not much good for find points. Just my opinion....

I did send an email off to Deus awhile back and suggested they come out with an optional remote with a bigger screen, not replace the existing one but add an optional one. I know most of you are young and in your prime but I am old, mostly senile, blind in one eye and poor sighted in the other and I find the screen is to small and very busy I personally would be more then happy to add a few ounces to have a bigger screen. The other option would be to have software you could run on your computer and its nice big 24 inch monitor to setup your programs ahead of time and upload, I know you might have to tweak things in the field but the most of it would be done.

Sounds like you bought your eyes from the same store I got mine from!!
It sucks getting old!!

I like your larger screen option, I'm in!

Jeff, it is funny that you mention the "eyeball store". Three years ago, I went through cataract surgery and I literally got to pick new eyes. I had the choice of 20/20 distant vision without glasses or vision at a decided point. I had them set mine to the computer screen distance. Perfect too for reading a book. I was horribly upset by the doctor's ideas to do surgery on my eyes. Let's say it was a miracle. I can now actually walk around without glasses and not crash into things. They are no longer the first thing I see in the morning and the last thing I see at night. I never would have believed the results. My miracle that reset my "age clock". I know not everyone will have this come up in their life but those that do shouldn't live in fear. I love my Deus but admit I don't look at the screen much. Your idea to program on a big screen and save to the controller is great. Pretty sure we are with the manufacturer who will continue to amaze and astound us in years ahead.

Good luck and thanks for sharing,
Don

I'm sure hoping the new coil and program's will add depth. I have a site that is highly mineralized and heavily littered with iron and trash. I and others have pounded this site and pulled out some real nice targets but just possibly there are more just out of reach. It would sure be a disappointment if the new coil or programs don't help.

Waiting for the new release to come out. Hoping it works in the wet sand. Weight is the issue as the FBS machine wears my arm out. Use a strap but it gets hot in the summer sun.
Coils are so expensive for these models so when they come out will decide which one to go with. More than likely get the big one then buy the small one for the trash sites. Can't imagine the cost and sure there will be a shortage in the beginning as there are a lot of the Deus MDs out there now. The 9" feels great but the 11 is a touch nose heavy but not bad. Wonder if any one has put the 11 on a straight shaft? HH JR

Hate to say it Nuke_em but you're all wet...
At a Bootcamp we were given insight into some of the new features in
this upgrade... not expecting simultaneous "multi-freq" for sure but
will be getting new higher freqs for the newly designed coil...
and a bunch of improvements for the old coils and settings for sure
I've been using the Deus for a couple weeks now on the beach here in Panama City
and am finding the machine works quite well, don't have any issues to
report so far but I will be putting it through the paces over the next few weeks
now that spring break is in full swing...
But we'll see soon enough

When you say the Deus works well at the beach, do you mean in the dry sand or wet sand or both? And if in the wet, will you list your settings?

I've run tests in the dry and and spent several hours hunting and there's no problem whatsoever...
I haven't timed it right for any extensive wet time at low tide yet to do some testing
but have run it in stock wet beach along the edge and it didn't have any major issues but
didn't find anything yet either... was still a bit chilly for my liking, but I'll be putting the
water kit on it and getting after it now that it's getting warm enough for this old man's
body and spring break is in full swing... lol
I'll post my findings..

Remember that all salt water beaches are not created equally . . .some have salt and some add black sand to the mix which is where the problems start for more units.

There are some tricks to quiet the Deus down in that region - wet black sand /. salt water - but the area in Panama City does not have that piece to contend with.

Settings and the way one searches make even black sand areas huntable now . . . and with the release of V4.0, things will change in a big way when it comes to the challenges hunters face on teh east and west coasts of the US and elsewhere.

my hopes with V4: better target ID values on deep targets, have the ability to use ID norm function in a different frequency other than 18 K if I was able to use 12 K I would be able to knock out Iron wraparound without the possibility of missing large silver. I still find the DEUS struggles to find deep coins in parks in NYC which are littered with modern trash the CTX 3030 works well in those parks. I hope XP improves depth indicator, that horse shoe thing is not that great. I use 9" and 11" coils, such a light machine and fast machine I like using it in the woods and parks with moderate trash. I started beach hunting with it and I like using gold field program when I do. I am looking forward to the new pin-pointer I wonder how it will work.

V4 can't come fast enough

Hope they bring in a small coil say 6" as I detect in stubble fields, it's easy to wind your way through stubble with a small coil
you can keep the head close to the ground and find those silver pennies.
