That ply wood suggestion was well thought out. Its tuff with the DD they catch a lot stuff. If you are worried about snakes.... winter the best shot. I have a friend who was digging for gold in AZ and got bit on the finger by a rattler... just one fang. Before they got him air lifted he was bleeding from about everywhere.
