I know most love this CTX but it has been a curse a good deal of time for me. I am on my 4th pair of headphones (would love to be able to afford a higher grade but no can do). My battery charger died while on vacation in the Pacific Northwest in some great detecting Country but I did have my battery pack so I loaded the purchased batteries and so okay on that one. When I got home I contacted Minelab and first I was told they needed me to send it back but changed their mind (given I was also having issues with the stock coil as it kept cutting out) so on Oct. 28th a new one was to be shipped. Meantime I continued to use the battery pack until two hunts ago when the machine would turn on for a couple of minutes, then a screen showing low battery and then the sound of death and a blank screen. I checked the probes and just to be safe used a soft tooth brush to clean the connectors. No go so I figured my charger should have been delevered by never got shipped) now so a supervisor is sending one to arrive in 3 bussiness days. I am hopeful that the actual battery will work once again as it seems to be a more snug fit! I really need to use the machine this weekend and wondered (after my long winded message-just needed to vent) if anyone has had this problem with the batteruy pack and if so are there any thoughts on what I can try? Thanks!!! Peggy

Gee, you have had some real bad luck. My only battery issue was that it wouldn't fully charge after a few months and they sent me a new one. I went through 3 pairs of those crappy made stock headphones in short time and they never hesitated to send a new pair each time. The last time Minelab replaced them I traded them toward a pair of Sun Ray Golds and haven't had any problems to date. Good luck and keep us updated.

Sounds a bit weird in that each battery pack is giving issues, or maybe I misunderstood. If both the rechargeable battery and the alkaline pack is/has caused problems and it seems to be dying or using the batteries rather soon, I would tend to look at the power head itself as maybe the common denominator. Could even be part of the coil issue also. Is there another CTX user closeby9 so you can maybe swap battery packs to see if it is the power head? Sort of isolate components. When I took delivery of mine 2 years ago, the headphones would not shut off the speaker and there was nothing int he headphones. The dealer gave me his and sent mine back. About 3 months later the 'coil not recognized' message came up and again the dealer gave me his coil while another was ordered for his. I was able to swap out parts to make sure we had actually identified the bad part.

Normally I get about 12-16 hours on the factory rechargeable pack and about 6-8 on the alkaline pack using Eneloops.

i have had my ctx just a little over a month now, i am not having battery problems but i don't like how the ctx 3030 has no depth compared to the explorer se i have set up the ctx every way possible i even up the sensitivity on one target and it made no difference at all i dont know why minelab did away with the gain on the ctx and i don't mean volume gain because that does not make any difference either, i dont know what happened to minelab but there technology is deffinitely going backwards

My wife has a old pair of black widows she isn't using. We would be more than glad to help you out and just give them to you. We are all on here for friendship and help aren't we. We will stand tall on this matter and get it done. I know you didn't put message on here for a hand out I'm not going there. We just want you to be happy an help you out. We haven't had any issue with Minelab. When I get home I'll check the headset over and make sure they are still in working order. If you want them send me a message.

I had multiple problems and not specific to the Battery

My Husband and I both got the CTX 3030 about the same time and he never had any problems and I had
multiple problems and sending it back at least three times

Thankfully I had my ET as a back up but I do believe the 3030 is superior in many ways and I do love the ET

Eventually Minelab sent me a new CTX 3030 which was HUGE

I believe that some of the new models had some quirks and resulted in being replaced by MineLab

Good Luck and HH

Just a though, might be a main board issue. Why I say that is because you are having a conglomerate
Of problems, the coil issues, the battery pack and headphones all occurring in this
Fashion.

Could be a flaw in the board due to a manufacturing issue; (maybe a dud board that
Missed quality control)?

Or an internal power supply issue in the machine.

Or an internet virus.

Or a mischievous demon lurks within the machine.

I hope the issues with your machine can be resolved and your aggravation with
All of this can be put to rest.

Hang in there and best of luck

Hi all!

Yes my problem was fixed. I received a new battery charger and things are working great! From the get go I thanked Chadwick for his KIND offer to pass on some headphones. One individual wrote"maybe there is a demon lurking within the machine". If I have anymore issues I may well call in someone to perform an exorcism. I do have a disabled vet hubby and 90 mother-in-law we care for and I work full time so I apologize for not responding sooner. What I need to do is get off my butt and post my coolest find yet, a 1903 barber quarter. I also need to work on the extraction process as I nicked it :(. At the same home (1906) I found two other silvers, a token that was dated 1922 with a bank on it (the research sowed that bank later became "Bank of America" and my buddy found a Packard employee badge. It was not a large yard so a great hunt! Peggy

Hey way to go peggy. I have a feeling your gonna do just fine with the ctx. I can't wait to hear the story of you kicking genes butt all over the beach..lol
