I noticed a lot of folks get rid of their Explorers because of the weight. I also complain about it too and have considered getting one of those swingy thingys. They cost
about fifty bucks and wonder if they are worth it. If anyone here has one can you let me know if it?

I've seen ones that go for about $25 and some that go for over a hundred. To me the one for $25 will do the job of a hundred dollar one so that's my choice. I haven't got one yet buty when I step up to a 15x12 coil then I'll start thinking about one.

Just discovered that the Coiltek link above has the swingy thingy for a lot less then what I thought. I still want to know if anyone here uses one. Testimonies please.

I have the belt style unit it is a help but I would recommend the chest version. My belt version moves around alot and since having it I wish I had the chest mount .The little clips they give for disconnect are to small to be practical so I put on very small climbing type rope clips and they work fine. All in all a good unit for very little money.

I use it all of the time except when I have a small coil. My mid back hurts like h*** if I try to swing the stock coil or a larger coil for any length of time. It's always with me when I'm in the field.

If adjusted to be right on the ground in front of you, it will be off the ground on the ends of the swing. You can push down on the ends of the swing but I had rather just not use it. If you decide to get one, mine would be available for just a little over shipping.

Okay. Sent PM to ya john.

I have used the Swingy Thingy since I got my SE. Moved it to the ET now. It has a nice little piece of plastic that the bungee goes through that adjusts the length of the thing. So when you start and stand a little straighter you may need to adjust it just a fraction to make sure it glides over the grass. When working uphill or downhill, another adjustment is necessary and it's easy and quick. That little feature is never mentioned by anyone. The bungee pulls at a D-ring that is in the center of your chest. The strap the D-ring attaches to goes behind your back and over your shoulder and hooks above your left pants pocket. All the weight of the machine is distrubuted in your upper body, not your back. My analogy is...Ever see construction guys guide a 20 ton object while it is being suspended by a crane with just their hands? The Swingy THingy is the crane and your arm and wrist do the steering. Another benefit is when you want to let go of the machine with both hands to manipulate something elsewhere, you don't have to bend over and lay the machine down or lean it against your body and then curse when it slips and falls to the ground. Hope this helps...Jim
