Anyone else had this probem?

This is only the second time I've charged the the coil. Went to push it together and take it off the coil and i felt a snap.

I have used my Deus almost two years and that has not happened to mine or I never seen anyone else that had one to brake. Maybe you just got a bad one. Glad they are sending you a new one.

Four years - no issues. Did get a spare just in case since there were some early reports of them breaking.

I'm wondering if they are just fragile or do some squeeze them too hard? I always do just enough to get it on.

I tell friends to buy an extra one at time of purchase and an extra back band, the clip is the only weak point of the Deus, back bands will just give out over time.

With plastics you never can tell where the impurities are or the internal stresses are until it fails prematurely. A lot of plastics are hygroscopic and take on moisture and also dry out causing brittleness with age, especially if exposed to sun and uv blocking agents were not mixed in. Just saying it is made to fail, it's just a matter of time. Be gentle with the thinner parts they are the least durable.

That's the first time I've seen or heard of one breaking !

While there are some hygroscopic plastics like nylon, the polypropylene used for the clip is not considered hygroscopic. Carbon black used to make the parts black is a good UV stabilizer (inexpensive) and is why so many outside plastic parts are black.

Don't know that XP made it to fail, that would drive up warranty claims. I have used mine hundreds of times over four years without issue. I only squeeze the ears just enough to slide it on.

My comments were meant to explain some of the nature of things made into plastics. XP probably didn't have anything to with it except find a supplier. I did not say u abused it either. I spent 20 years in the injection molding industry and my other hobby is 3D printing. I purchased a Remington Nylon 76 rifle back in 1962. I paid 69.99. The only lever action ever made by Remington. I never fired it until a couple years ago. I went to sight it in and on the 3rd round the stock broke clean in two on both sides just above the trigger. That gun didn't have a scratch on it and had I not fired it would have sold for at least a 1000.00. I was devastated. My prize rifle is now practically worthless because of a built in stress line. My point was and still is that plastics items are meant to eventually fail by various means and being carefull has nothing to do with it,

Most of the problems I've heard about the clips breaking have been with charging the new HF coils.
They seem to be a bit thicker and cause the clip to be opened wider to connect it.
This is what I found when I got a new 9"HF coil and tried to charge it.
Same charge clip with both the LF and HF coils.
I took a small file and shaved the coil cover down so the clip fit easily and haven't had any problems.
Oh, and I've had my clips since 2012.

.

The 9" must be different than the Elliptical. I measured mine and my 11" LF with calipers. The elliptical measured .040" less than the 11".
