What sort of information are you wanting?
 
would like to know how deep on targets does it go? Does it have a stable coil? How is it on gold and silver? What is the time limit on the batteries?Thank you C.J.M. (texas)

Is that the bottom of the line for Fisher??? I remember owning a cheap Fisher, maybe F5. The numbers bounced sooo much I could not tell what the heck was under the coil.
I returned it ASAP.

If you are use to a top end detector, stay away from the cheap stuff. They will only frustrate you.

James, The F5 is plenty deep for normal coin/park type hunting. The Fisher coils are just fine & NEL makes a good range of excellent coils also. It runs around 6kHz so it is good on Silver. Mike Hillis has a lot of very good posts on the different Forums about the F5. He used it as a great jewelry hunter. It is designed to run two 9 volt batteries in parallel. Probably 20+ hours. Very adjustable to whatever hunting conditions, very stable even in bad EMI spots, very good ID & Disc. It was not a low end detector. It has several unique features that make it more of an experts machine if wanted. They don't bring much money on the used market but don't let that fool you, it's a good unit even today. I'll never sell mine & will keep using it on the right site with success. Remind me what part of Texas you are in, I'm in East Texas.
 
I've owned my F5 for 11 years now, it's my only detector and I love it.
It goes 9" deep on a silver dime, it has two 9 volt batteries that last 40 hours plus plus outstanding modulated sound that you can ask for.
I hunt with my brother who uses an etract and both units love silver.
If you go to all metal mode you can add an extra inch to your depth.
I bought my unit used back in 2014 for 250$ and only once had to send it in for repairs and they didn't even charge me for the repairs because they said it was a factory defect.
With my experience and the quality of this machine I feel comfortable that if there's silver under my coil I'll know it.
 
No, the F2 was the inexpensive one and it was still pretty effective. The F5 is way more advanced. And you don't have to worry about membrane switches wearing out.
 
You r best bet is to just read the manual. I can send you a copy if you need it.

What was the factory defect?:blink:
 
The factory defect was the disc would only go high enough for a halve dollar and you could run it over top of a silver dollar and it wouldn't pick it up.
They explained it to me that the machine was going back to zero disc after 92 disc instead of going to 99 disc.

I AM IN SOUTH TEXAS. i JUST GOT A NICE F-5 ,I noticed it had two screws holding the control box,but it has another screw missing.ThE f-5 comes from KELLYCO.Would IT BE BETTER TO GET THE OTHER SCREW FROM FISHER IN EL PASO,TEXAS OR KELLYCO? I HAVING PROBLEMS IN WHICH WAY TO START.I AM THINKING OF GOING ALL-METAL WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS?SORRY AT 85 ITS HARD TO REMEMBER STEP BY STEP .COULD SURE USE SOME HELP.IAM IN SOUTH TEXAS. CJM
 
Turn the detector on. Turn the disc knob to the off position, turn the threshold knob until you can hear a faint tone, find a piece of ground with no metal in it and bob the coil up and down until the threshold neither gets louder or quieter. If it gets louder on the down stroke, turn the GB down and if it gets quieter, turn it up. Set sensitivity where you like it and hunt.
