Anyone modify a vanquish making it waterproof yet?

I plan to try . It won't be completely waterproof, but should work for shallow water wading. Plan is as follows:

1) extend the coil cable to 7 ft. ( bought the connectors and cable ...need to solder them yet, waiting to make up a soldering gig)
2) disconnect the control box and throw it in a small back-pouch , ( so detect by sound only)
3) get a straight shaft handle and attach it to the Vanquish shaft ( need someone to 3D print the handle......any suggestions?)
The major obstacle now, is to find a handle #3 above.

I was curious if anyone has rebuilt a vanquish to make one waterproof yet l.

it would be interesting and a very cheap unit to do so with.
the vanquish control box looks like it could be put together like the ace 150 to which I made a water hunting detector. not really water proof, ill explain. I bought a straw pit helment used a four AA battery holder. kind with two battery on each side. mounted on one side of the hat I disconnected the face plate from the battery holder part of the ace 150. only had to cut the speaker wires. mounted the faceplate part of the detector to the other side of the hat. then used a small pair of headphones inside the hat then hooked everything together. used solid hair net to cover the hat. I bought extra cable from garrett Spliced the extra cable, used silicon an heat swank to waterproof the splice. anyway you get the idea. It worked good. Found a lot of gold jewelry in fresh water. the vanquish, an the ace control boxes looks a lot a like, but I couldn't say how the vanquish would look if you disconnect .the face from the battery holder an speaker part. but I bet it would be a lot a like. any way just a thought.

Just a thought? You have given more detail than most ... great ideas on completing a project like this ... Thanks for putting your thoughts on this to pen on paper so to speak

I just used extra wire to go from the battery holder to the other side of the hat, by going inside the hat up to the top, then back down the other side to the control box. mostly comes down to just thanking it threw.

well i finely got around to waterproofing my vanquish 440
it came out great i had a 200 series otterbox (they don't make these anymore)
& used ge silicone & pvc extensions for the cables
& a nokta battery holder
its gonna work fine for me i only go in 6 feet of water
this has been a great detector a real ring finder ..
