Anyone try to take the Twist Lock apart for Cleaning?

Coin Rescue Inc

Seems my Lower Twist Lock is stuck - won't rotate

I suspect beach sand has gotten into it

I see the end of the twist lock is suppose to unscrew for disassembly.

not budging using my hands.

Thought I would ask before bringing out the heavy duty tools -

Got it apart
Used my rubber coated gloves for more traction to start the lock nut to unscrew.
There is the small part that put pressure on the shaft as you twist the mechanism.
Careful and watch for that because they can fall out and you need it fro reassembly
It had enough fine sand to start causing wear on the shaft
Cleaned and put back together using light vegetable oil.
Seems to work smooth now.

I would recommend taking the twist nut apart and cleaning after a beach or water hunt.
I spent most of the beach time in the water and at times sand was kicked up when washing out the scoop
I think that is what did it

Also wondering if this Makro Forum will go away due to the merger?
