Anyone use Killer B's with the Etrac?

I really like my Killer B's originals, I've had them for 3 years now. Since I've gotten my Etrac, I had to turn the Killer B's up all the way and max out the internal volume on the detector just to have it at a barely acceptable level. Has anyone else experienced this?

I really like the tone in my Killer B's and I'm hesitant to buy replacements. What headphones do you use and do you have volume to spare or do you have to max them out?

Hi,
Yes I use Killer Bee (wasp) model with my Etrac. I have no problem at all.I leave the detector all the way up and have the phones turned way down.
no issues.
good luck

Hi George----I always "max out" the volume on my detectors, then control it (volume) thru the headphones.----The Killer B's are good but if you haven't tried them, you owe it to yourself (a real treat) to try out a pair of Sunray Pro Golds.----Especially on the Explorer/Etrac, the tonal quality & matching PP volume is superb on the Golds (for those old silver/coppers you're after).----The Golds have other "top points" as well but we're talking about audio here.---They are just an exceptionally good "marriage" with the Etrac & Explorers.----Yes, they work well on other detectors also---but on these two mentioned detectors----EXCEPTIONAL!---------Del

I like the Sunrays. Bought a new pair last year and some how broke the plactic head band and now have them in for repair. I also use the Black widow headphones on the beach. They are kind of bulky but they work so well on my E-trac that I'll probably keep using them and use my Sunrays as backups. I can't go wrong with either one.

Below is another post that was made about the killer bees:

Headphone selection can be more 'personal' than picking a New

good detector ... or at least for some it is.

Personally, due to my hearing loss, I usually prefer the good audio blast I can get for some hunting applications, and it's especially needed with some models of detectors, such as the White's Classic series, which seem to be 'muffled' or too bassy for me. It's great to have the option of flipping a toggle to activate the limiter circuit. For many. many years I have preferred the Killer B 'Wasp' model with the dual volume control and limiter switch. Excellent audio and very comfortable, and they stay put on your head and don't flop. The same can be said of the SunRay Pro Gold model, which is essentially the same headphone (made for them by Killer B) but with softer pads and a little 'dressing' of some switches.

Either the Killer B 'Wasp' or SunRay Pro Gold will do the trick for you, I'm sure.

Yes, I use them all the time, but I am not experiencing the problem you described.

Geodawn i have the same problem with mine. I'm not sure what causes it but i wish i did. I have tryed everything to figure out what is wrong with no luck. The one's that came with the etrac will blast your ears off. If you find out the answer please email me. HH

I use the Killer B Stingers, one ear, and it is more than adequate. But they are louder on all other machines I have used them on.

I starting to wonder if it's the Etrac. I can take the Killer B's and throw on one of my other detectors and I have to turn them all the way down because they'll blow my head off. I ordered a new pair of Killer B's Optima "ST" today - they're made for Nautilus and Minelab detectors...but I believe they'll work with any. I hope they sound as sweet as my originals...just louder.

Thanks for all the replies guys.

I have used the single KB on the E-Trac. But until I had tried others and then hooked up the Ratphones, they all sounded pretty much the same. There is a SIGNIFICANT difference in the total audio spectrum reproduced by the Rats compared with all the others I have tried. It might be coincidence, but the silver started showing more frequently after the Rats came onboard. jim

Love the Wasp for my E-Trac as well. Glad I took the advice of my detector sales person and went with them.

I also run the volume maxed on the E-Trac and adjust with the control on the headphones.

i use the sunrays but have had killer b's in the past and they are pretty good.

I've been using the killer B's (black ones) for over four years.
Started running them on the Tejon and kept using them for the E trac.
I think they do a good job, but I don't have any other high end phones to compare them to.
I know they sound a TON better than the foam eared $10 el-chepos I sometimes use when It's 100 degrees in the summer.
The one complaint I have is that they start to hurt around my ears after a few hours of swinging.
I have a small head so I'm not sure if others have the same ordeal with other phones or not.
All said I would buy them again.

I got my new Killer B's in and it's the same thing with them. As I suspected, it looks like an issue with the Etrac. Since I can live with the volume issue, I'll send it in for repair in the off season...can't be without it now.

Thanks guys for all the replies and PM's.
