Apparently on this forum you cant say anything bad about Minelab!!

Well I wish I could comment on this but unfortunately the Cumberland Plateau is still a frozen tundra! However I have had it in my yard and have all ready noticed that I like the target seperation better than the whites or tesoro and I believe it will be a whole lot more user friendly than the dfx, but face it, you get out of something what you put into it!

I dont own the E-Trac, but I would think I have any right to be here. My father does own 2 minelabs and a BH big bud pro, and to be honest in my opinion, using his detectors the BH is the easiest, the Minelab explorer XS,I like and I like his GP 3500 or is it the 3000 he has? Anyway.
Using his detectors in AZ, was great, we never found any gold but I did find a copper nugget, but cannot find that now.
I havent used any of his for a significant amount of time but I am familiar with them all. out of his my favorite is his ML Explorer.

My favorite of of the 3 white's I own is the classic 5 ID(for now), I havent had time to try the new coinmaster of my DFX which is in transit too me.
I really would of liked to get the E-Trak(haha) mad yet? or the exploror SE Pro.<<<:)

Guess not finding anygold like minelab says you will with the GP series and be rich, I guess I could say it is a POS but will not cause Gold is Where you find it.and apparently him nor I moved the coil over any gold.
The Explorer never found any silver either in my hands but his BH did.

White's has been in my family for many, many years but time may come for me to bring some of my money out of the good ole USA and into foreign hands(Minelab).Though I would rather buy American.

but the way you are coming across as a major :pulltab:, then you deserve it.

You'd have to be REALLY unlucky. If you take note you are one of the very very few that has had this "bad" experience(be it all of one hour) and it is rare that any problems that one has, does not get attention and corrected.

As far as suggesting that Minelab are the only wanting your cash, I couldn't agree more BUT if anything goes wrong, you can rest assured that they have given me and many others the best service possible. Minelab have been around long enough to produce excellent products, Etrac included. Occasionally there may be a slight problem, but it always addresses the problems to ensure your detector works.

You 'd have to be pretty dumb and naive to believe that any other manufacturer is NOT in it for the cash. I can't see any other reason why any other business would bother, if they weren't in it for the cash.

So this is mainly why I to, believe that you are simply a troll:thumbdown:. and your having "nothing but trouble" with an Etrac is unique if it was the detector that was faulty.....BUT common if you just don't understand how good this detector really is.

You also need to realize that it is a privilege ,NOT your right, to post on this forum and you should do so to seek good advice to help you out to use the Etrac.

I hope you work it all out for the better.

Some folks start too far up the line without the experience or determination to succeed.

A novice often doesn't appreciate or even understand the capabilities of a high end detector. They are trying to build a house starting on the second floor.

Well that is truly a shame you didn't care for it. Not everyone will like every detector.

I personally had great results with the E-Trac. In my opinion, and this is just my own opinion, it's not a heavy detector (try an Explorer II to learn what heavy is all about) and it's really not hard. It's "turn on and go", if you take the time to familiarize yourself with it. It does seem intimidating at first, and would not be a good detector for someone new to start out with, without someone to help them.

I can tell you the very first signal I dug with mine was a Mercury dime, in a park I hadn't found silver in for over 20 years. That's saying something.

However having said all that, I also don't see the harm in you relating your experience. I do think you gave up on it too quickly, and that with some help you'd have liked it, but then maybe not, as it just may not be your cup of tea. But guys, let's not take someone criticizing a machine personally, like we are morons if we like it or something. I do recall the machine did seem intimidating to me at first and I've used quite a few of them over the years. Just because someone tries it and doesn't take to it, doesn't mean they are scum. Way too serious in these threads over nothing. If people can't express their honest opinions on a machine, and I'm not talking bashing/racism/threats/name-calling etc, just expressing honest opinions, then what's the point? There's a certain other board where censorship rules supreme along with "banned for life"....if you know what I mean. Hey TR what's up dude, keeping up with all the bannings, your IP list must be in the thousands by now :)

Speaking of that, just as an FYI, if you have been "banned for life" from said board for daring to do anything other than grovel before and suck up to the god-like TR, there is a way around it if you use cable modem. Just get another modem (really just wait until you need another for whatever reason) then when you call your ISP have them change your IP address if they don't already when you set up the MAC ID with them, and voila, you are back "in". So much for "banned for life", not that his board is all that great anyway.....But this is a whole other topic.....

Yeah, it's kinda making a mountain out of a molehill. He didn't care for his machine. It's his right, and if people are threatened by a post saying he didn't like it, I guess we have some pretty thin skin.

I have 2 coinstrikes. I've had an E-Trac, and many other machines. I've seen plenty of posts bashing the coinstrike. Some of the complaints are legitimate (like the funky input buttons). I can live with that as not everyone will like every machine. If it didn't work for you, well that sucks, try something else. But I don't feel the need to bash someone just because they didn't care for what I like. I've made wonderful finds with every machine I've owned and there are lots of good ones to pick from.

The more people post that he's a you know what because he doesn't like the E-Trac, the more it makes something out of nothing. It's really that simple. It's not worth the effort. Did he give it a fair shake? No, but if he's totally new, he could have spent hours and not gotten a lot farther, you know. It's not a machine for someone brand new to the hobby. You know and I know it's a great machine in the right hands, but those hands aren't his, and it's not worth acting like children over it. I feel like I could read in here next "my dad is gonna kick yours behind"....I mean come on....just not worth it guys.

Maybe you missed the part where the OP slams the ETrac and it's owners, which started all this. Personally I think the OP was a troll. If he had simply said, "Yeah, I wasn't comfortable with it", that would have been the end of it.

For those who think some of us got upset to easily by a Negative post about the E-Trac.There were three ridiculous posts from same person and all three were aimed at bashing and bashing only. One of the three was deleted and not by me.So all in all I think we all behaved in a decent manner and some very good info came about as a result.I believe I can speak for most of us when I say we do not have a problem with legitimate complaints and will do our best to help.
However if you want to come on here and bash any machine or brand just for the sake of running them down you can expect some strong and to the point replies and or deletion,Ray.

I don't think anyone on here felt threatened, was childish or made any rocky mountains from mole hills, nor were they being thin skinned. I'm sure everyone that posted on his comments could care less if he liked the E-Trac or not, but would have been glad to help him or steer him in the right direction to someone who could.

This person was looking for comments or he would not have posted those posts. Then he posts his machine up for auction stating it was used an hour or so in his back yard and wasn't really into the hobby. I have always heard, "EXPECT WHAT YOU INSPECT" :chase:
