Are these earrings 10k or .925?

Last time I went to the beach I found lots of coins, 10k and 14k rings and these 2 matching set earrings that have me a little confused. When I found the first one my excal gave me that sweet low mellow tone and when I dug it up I figured white gold. Two steps later I found the other one with the same tone. Got home and couldn't find and gold markings but did find what looks like 925 on one side and pas on the other side. Rechecked on my excal and got the same low tone, ran them across my G2 and got a 52 reading indicating gold. Did gold test and it passed the 10k test. Also tried the silver acid and the scratches went away but the color didn't change. Am I doing something wrong or are these fake, certainly not silver according to the tones and reading on G2? Tried to get a pic of the 925 but doesn't look too clear. One weighs 1.67 grams and the other 1.57 grams, They are a little bigger than a penny and smaller than a nickle. Thanks for looking. John

Got the same earring 1.7g, on the Xterra it 's a TID 12...same as a nickel, same as gold. But I have other silver that rang up like gold.
I got the same results with the acid, 10k holds, silver turns red/brown......... I'll go with silver on this.

Shape....and size .... Something you have to consider when getting tones or readings... Congrads on the 925's! I often get very lows in the foil range for small light weight gold rings...another is broken gold rings.. nasty sounding unless they have some size to them and even then not like gold...on the Excalibur....

Yeah..925... great job on getting the pair! any open thing like that does that to these detectors..even a large silver chain will hit lower than a guy would think..
Mud.

I was surprised to find the pair. This beach has given up lots of silver including James Avery rings n Pandora bracelet n several gold rings the past couple of years. Tomorrow I will go to a beach down the coast from here that was so packed yesterday that people were turned away. My hunting partner has to work so I will hit it alone. Hopefully I will have something to report. Thanks n good hunting. John

Small or irregular shaped silver will sometimes give a low tone. Sweet pair you got there. I need to get out and do more looting from July 4.

The machine takes size and shape into consideration when processing a target. Sometime its not about the tone its self..... but the volume of the target. You pick silver up deeper and a little clearer on those earrings.
