Haven't got into the RC planes much yet, but do like to fly the simulators.
Flight sims are the reason I first bought a real puter in 1992. I did have an
old IBM 8088 machine before that, but it was basically useless.. First real
puter was a 386/33DX with a whoppin 80 MB hard drive.. lol..
First sim was MSFS 4. Now I'm using MSFS 10.. Things have come a long
ways since the 90's. With FS4, cockpits were 2D, and pretty limited and
cartoonish looking. But for the past several years, I've been using 3D "virtual
cockpits", and with the PMDG 737 I've been running for the last two years,
almost every switch and button works as real world.
It is licensed from Boeing, and uses all their data and plans. Every system
works as real world, from the FMC/CDU to the various systems on the plane.
Much more advanced than the stock 737-800 that comes with FSX.
I've have most of the various models, 600,700,800, and 900. The only one I'm
missing is the 900ER.
As far as playing airline buoy, I usually run Southwest using the 700 and 800.
But I also have other versions such as a private 600 I use a lot, and others
such as a Coleman Co. BBJ.
Some examples.. Note that these videos are made from replays, and sometimes
the modes and settings you see are not what I was seeing when flying.
That is a replay issue, and not a fault of the planes systems.
I have all ad's turned off on u-toob, so hopefully no forum issues..
All these are 720P HD, and look the best at 720p, and full screen. You might
have to view on u-toob to see at that res. If so, click on the "watch on u-toob"
button..

Southwest 737-700 going into Dallas KDAL
Not my greatest landing.. I over flared just a tad.. But nuttin too horrible.. :/

A quick round the block demo of a Southwest 737-800. I did the paint job
on this one to match a real world plane I took pictures of at KHOU.
This is the sixth 737-800 that Southwest received last spring

My 600 BBJ I rigged up. Boeing doesn't actually build a 600 BBJ, but
I wanted one, so I rigged one up from an older plane. Being an older
plane, it's using the Honeywell MCP instead of the Collins, and has
eyebrow windows, etc.. But it does have HGS, which all the Southwest
planes have. It's using the HGS 4000, which is the newest model.
They didn't model the older HGS 2350.. But the HGS 4000 is better
anyway.. Shows rollout guidance.
This video is a quick run to Toncontin in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
The approach is a fun one, with about a 120 degree descending turn to final.
You pretty much descend into a bowl.. This one is really fun if the weather
is nasty with lots of rain.. Pretty sedate on this one, with good weather.
