AT Pro signals

I often read of members digging "solid signals" are they referring to signals that don't have mixed tones, or "static" in the tone? I have found most aluminum and foil items give a mixed tone or a static / scratchy tone. Also I am in the KC area and our ground is very neutral and I been wondering if that has a part in few trash items having a clear signal. Thoughts on this from your experience are welcomed.

Tight multi denom spills give off scratchy and non solid signals...I scooped a P,D and Q off the beach today that had an awful signal...I think a lot of multidenom spills get missed.

YES, that is what they are referring to. Solid signals that are not scratchy and the vdi numbers do not move more than a couple digits. I get copper Penney's at 56/57, but they have a little of a scratchy sound. Nickles(51/52, dimes(81/82), quarters(86/87), silver half dollar(91/92) are usually solid sounding. Those are coins I have found. Like the others stated, not all scratchy sounding targets are bad. I have found pressed coins, the ones that have an image stamped into them as they are stretched, to have a scratchy sound, but a solid vdi. A penny was stamped with the Rain Forest Cafe and a frog that read a 67/68 with a scratchy signal. Possibly because it was a zinc.

The moral of the story is not all bad signals are bad. If it stands out, dig it up.

Yup, and even some iron grunt thrown in maybe, just maybe a gold chain / bracelet. I'm mainly referring to water hunting, the up and down on land for those iffys would wear a body out. BUT in an athletic field gold may be lurking the same as in the water.
