Hi all just wanted to know are you happy with your ATX is it the best detector you have bought or wish you had bought something else?
What are the good and bad points of your ATX
Would you recommend it to anyone.......:thumbup:or:thumbdown:

That iron check helps with targets in the top 5 inches or so. It runs more stable also. I had been using the Infinium since about 2008, and was quite successful with it. Below are my finds so far for 2014. Some of the rings and coins were found in the snow before ice breakup in the lakes. So far, the ATX has found 9 rings and 202 coins, including about a dozen tokens. I can't complain......I only get a little over 4 months each year for water hunting. I also hunt with the AT Pro/AT Gold on land, which have also gotten me more rings and lots of coins this year.

Thanks john for making time to wright your post, looks like you got some great finds there.
Some more reviews of others now would be great.
Keep them coming. . .

Hello for me 2 years with vlf ctx , the time laps necessary to learn beach , now i ve the atx at the start so heavy....subject of question for me ! i try this winter onthe storm january, impossible to swing proprely with the wind . This is the only problem for me , to the beach...

In the LAND not so impressioned , maybe when its wet or raining it could be better ? my vlf xp deus is better

To the beatch it s a beast, awesome nothing else

I like my ATX so much it is my main detector now . I like what I can go wright be hind excel and CTX's and find Quarters at 18 to 26" that they can't find. I have found 5 small chains and Gold rings at 18"In the pasted 3 month and 3 more

Thank you guys for all the information some nice finds coming in with the ATX.

Regarding the weight of the ATX do you think that it would have been better if garrett made it with carbon fibre I know it would push the price up a few hundred

I just got mine on Friday, only got to use it yesterday on a small fresh water beach. Any tips appreciated, I dug alot of bottlecaps and pulltabs, only got 1 good low-high signal and it was a copper american penny. Trashy beach with no good targets. I used the infinium for about 3 months and I could tell if it was a bobbie pin or bottlecap, guess I need to relearn the signals. Too many months with AT-Gold and CTX3030 has ruined my tone hearing.

I gotta get some deep rings to pay this thing off this summer ;)

Looks like you will have to start in the back yard with a couple of coins, gold rings etc to listen to the sounds.
In your opinion do you think the ATX is any good for the beach or trashy areas:confused:

For dry trashy sand not. You will dig almost everything. With AT PRO or other VLF you don't dig bottle caps... and this is huge difference. With ATX you can't recognize bottle cap. This is not possible in my opinion.

ATX is excellent for surf line, and all wet salt places where peoples lost jewellery.

In one word YES. However, it is like any other detector: Each one has its pros and cons, in any one given environment.
I have used mine for 8 months now in both fresh and salt water. I now use it in salt water for deeper targets. I use another with a 15" or 18" coil for recently lost items and in fresh water swimming areas. I do not do land unless asked to find a specific lost item.

Check out the below threads...lots of impressions on the ATX from many users.

There are others just have to search for them.

Sure has some weak areas but overall Very happy :bouncy:

Hi TheGeorgiaCanuck,

I got a tip for you and your new ATX ... Use your CTX or AT Gold at fresh water beaches. You are asking for a lot of frustration scooping deep trash in the fresh water or on a fresh water beach.

If you got to find enough deep rings to pay off your ATX without going crazy and wearing yourself out, drive to a saltwater beach that has waves, current, and tidal flow to clear out all the lighter weight trash.

Dont own a ATX myself but have used one for a short time duration in the UK,only 2 people that i am aware use them, one guy in our club uses one but just occasionally on the beach as most of the time it just sits gathering dust.

I do own and use a Pulse for mainly land use with the possible few times on the beach as well, when the ATX 1st came out i always use a golden rule of never buying a brand new machine just incase any major flaws start to appear over time,i use a minimum of 6 months more than often 12 months to do as much reading of review as i can about a new detector that attracts my attention. The ATX did when it was launched and the time duration has come to make a decision, well after using one for a short time duration and taking into account things like weight, design and the all important would it be used alot or would it just gather dust in the cupboard after the initial excitment has worn off.

Its not a case of not being able to afford one but taking everything into consideration i decided the ATX was not for me,sales i think are some what sluggish over here in the UK,have never seen one being used inland and only heard of one being used on the beach,so this is also giving me a good indication that they are not popular either.

Price is a very big factor and also the niche that the detector is aimed at as well,as we dont have gold nuggets in the UK this reduces the niche down even further, then you take into account the beach use this would be its main niche over here but then other detector makers offer machines that do basically the same for about half the price.

Of course the final decision is yours and it all depends on how deep your pocket is and also will it get used alot, these are the type of questions i would ask myself.

In my opinion ATX is ideal for non trashy places and for wet section of beach hunting and gold prospecting. In all other places use VLF versions.

Yes at the beach with atx you have to search only in the hard sand or black sand here its a beast ! if you search in the dry or wet/dry sand you will dig a lot of trasch here vlf s is better

in the hard sand bottle caps make a strong hi/low because they are lights and on the top of the floor, i dig tiny sounds , deep sounds and not so much bottle caps....in the rest of the beach i use ctx

It s a tool in your tool box , each tool as a fonction atx is specialised in the hard sands , but when you find a hot spot.....ouahhh !

Matthew,so have you bought one yet ??? just out of interest what do you currently use detector wise.
