average depth on the Compadre?

so what kind of depth are you all averaging on the compadre? It seems like I've read about 5" but is that what you're finding? Thanks in advance for any who respond. dan in so cal
 
Strangely, it seems to go deeper for the nickel/tab range. It air tests on my gold ring at 8". The important thing, to me, is that it overcomes some of the iron masking at low settings and gets stuff others can't . And then there's fine gold chains, earrings, and gold studs.
 
The bigger the metal the deeper it goes of course, but I'd say about 5-6" on average is about right.

My Compadre loves nickles also. If I was just looking for nickles, the Compadre would be my first choice from my arsenal of detectors.

Small square modern pull tabs don't fool it much.
