Back from the beach without any gold but.......................

it was a great experience. Just got to hunt one evening, but it was fun even though I just got some clad and lincs (NO GOLD) Found out that a good long handled scoop would have been a nice tool to have had with me. When tectin close to the waters edge (The lane as beach hunters call it) The waves will fill your holes faster than you can dig them. Had to leave some good beeps because of that. Also found out my Ace 250 falses a lot in wet sand, but the GTI 2500 did ok in both wet/dry sand and in the surf. It didn't false any. The 250 did ok in dry sand. The problem could have been in the operator though. Seems I do a lot better finding stuff here in the KY hill country. Beach tectin is a field of its own, but I had fun in the short time doing it and did my part in cleaning the beach of bottle caps, tabs, and junk. Maybe the next time I'll be better prepared. Heres a few pics of me at Sandbridge Beach.

that sure looks like a fun time. You and the grand daughter sure did build a neat sand structure. Next time the gold for you !! Steve in so az

I'm with you... beach detectin' is a lot different than huntin' dirt. You really do need a big long handled scoop to work the "lane". You also have to time your digging with the wave patterns and dig FAST! Even with a big scoop, if you don't do it just right, your target will begin to sink to China.

My new water scoop is over 7" wide and 10 1/2 inches deep. I tried working the "mine" or deeper water for the first time this past weekend. Man, that is hard work. Fighting the waves, trying to swing the coil against them and then trying to locate and dig a target... whew! It is NOT easy. Not only that, but you have to hold on to the (7 lb) scoop so it doesn't hit you (like I did) or the many people playing in the surf that you're trying to walk between. I'm going to have arms like Popeye by the end of the summer

I know you all had fun! :)
