Barber and Full Pocket Watch!!!! My very first.

I went detecting today and had just found a Buffalo nickel at a local park.....then about 20 minutes later I get an odd signal. 12-44 12-43 but it seems larger. I hadn't found much so I decided to dig it and got my very first pocket watch!! The thing is intact. I believe it is gold plated....hopefully over silver. It is very heavy. I have no clue on how to clean or where to look for hallmarks. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I'm very curious....to say the least...lol.

I believed the pocket watch may have been very old and gold
But the uneven color viewed on the watch on one of the pictures and the winder not being gold
makes me believe it may not be solid gold
You could have a jeweler look at it

Either way it is BEAUTIFUL

the watch is definitely not solid gold. However it is at least double plated gold, possibly triple plated, because it is thick. I don't think it's plated over silver either, but I do have it lubed up with some WD40....hoping it will loosen the hinges so that I can open the front panel and see some hallmarks. Either way I was super excited to find it.

After a little research...and using the serial number on its works plate.....it is an 1886 American Waltham pocket watch. Still trying to find out some more info....but is definitely the oldest datable thing I've found with my metal detector.
