does the 300 have a problem with black sand at the beach live in san diego california and have heard that some owners of this detector has problems with black sand (chatter) or is it just
not adjusted properly anyone that lives in california and has this detector please give input because california has a lot of black sand on the beach
 
Most VLF detectors has problems with black sand. If you are going to hunt black sand a lot, I might suggest a PI detector.
 
I have no problem with my explorer at the beach in the black sand
