It is nice to have a Christian forum on here to talk to other Christians. The last time I logged onto Finds, I was not where I needed to be, Spiritually. At almost 48 years of hard-living, I am now glad to say that I have a genuine testimonial to Christ. Most preachers will tell you that if you confess your sins and pray the Prayer for Salvation, you will be saved like, immediately. I had to "work" at it for nearly 2 months, praying every day, reading the Bible(which I continue to do). I had been a drinker since age 12 or 13, drinking almost daily. Quitting drinking "cold turkey" was one of the easiest things I've ever done. That was step number 1. Asking and praying for Salvation wasn't working. It took a while, but I discovered that having an un-forgiving spirit for 20 years over something was keeping my Salvation at bay. Truth is, if we are unable to forgive others for their doings, we will not be "easily" saved. Once I let go of the unforgiveness and bitterness, and cleansed my heart of bad feelings, God came into my life. It is true about being 'like an infant" when you are born-again. You hunger for the word of God, and you actually forget your old thought patterns, and it's like you almost don't know what to say, or think, or how to act. It's amazing.......I'm re-learning the "new" me, and it is a good thing. My point is, to anyone here who has not been saved, but wants to be......If your heart is not TOTALLY free of bitterness, anger, or resentment toward somebody or something, you must TOTALLY forgive them in order to be forgiven. In my case, it took 2 months of soul-searching, praying, and cost me over 20 pounds of body weight(a good thing) during the process. IT WAS WORTH IT!! Don't give up, and don't expect the process to happen immediately. Work at it daily, and it will happen. You will know when it does. Hope this helps at least one person.
