Been thinking about getting a Etrac, but....

I have been hearing some negative things lately regarding people having problems right out of the box. I do not wish to cause any controversy or problems I just would like some honest opinions of those who have the ones made in Ireland and Malaysia. I have a Irish made SE Pro since last spring and have had no problems with it yet. I also have a Ecalibur II from Malaysia that is also problem free, although I only have 12hrs on it.
Thanks, Aaron

Hi Aaron-----The wife & I both have Etracs made (or assembled) in Malaysia.-----Have logged in quite a bit of hunt time with both of them with no problems what-so-ever.----They work flawlessly & we love 'em.---I can't see one iota of difference in them & the Ireland machines.---------Del

I have a Malaysian assembled ETrac, but similar to your Excal,I only have a couple hours of swing time on it.The ground is too solid to make any target recovery attempts other than surface targets and the good deep target signals I'd like to investigate are driving me nuts! Its going to be a long wait till the ground thaws.

The same quality components go into these machines, the only diference is they are assembled in Malaysia.

I've had an E-trac from the first month they were released, so I guess it's an Irish ASSEMBLED machine. (I doubt the electronics were made there, but could have been). It has been back to the shop three times for the same problem. The pressure pad keyboard will suddenly start not functioning correctly, or in the first two cases, the machine just won't turn on at all, no matter what I tried. I have read posts on this forum from people with the same problem. I still use my XS as a backup, so no lost hunting time. I don't think where the machine is assembled will make much or any difference in whether it malfunctions or not. The issues I've had with my E-trac DO NOT in any way make me regret buying it. When it has gone to the shop, I fire up the old reliable XS. As shown, by posts on this forum, a lot of very nice finds are coming out of "pounded" sites, while using the E-trac. .

I've never heard of problems "out of the box" with any E-Tracs. I have heard of problems developing quickly with the Excalibur 2, but even those are in the minority.

2 E-trac's, both were from Malaysia, both have been fantastic. Only trouble I've had with either is finding enough time to go detecting.

Stop thinking and start getting! If my machine conked out tomorrow, I'd buy another. No question. Any machine might have problems, and chances are best that your machine will be problem free. Buy from a reputable dealer, a local one if you can, and they should be willing to help you if any problems arise. Problems also should be covered under warranty, but a good dealer will help you get your machine fixed right and back in your hands ASAP if you need.

My only problem is I had to make a new longer digger as the Etrac hunts so DEEEEEEP
