The ground is actually frozen here in Alabama. It has been a looooooong time since that has happened. We just don't get this kind of cold weather here for usually more than a day or two, but we've had it for a few days now, and I hear that it's probably gonna stick around for a couple of weeks. Heard on the weather tonight that it looks like we just might break a record set in the 1940's for consecutive days with temps getting below 25. It's supposed to be around 12-13 degrees here in my area tonight, and possibly colder tomorrow night. The BIG news, for me anyway, is that we have a 60% chance of snow for Thursday!!!!!!!! That almost never happens here, and when we do get a little dusting, it melts pretty quick because the ground isn't cold enough - - - but this time the ground IS cold enough!!! YEA!!!!! Just hope it happens! Seems like everytime we get our hopes up for snow, they end up taking it out of the forecast because our conditions are never just right. When I was growing it, it wasn't that unusual to get a few minor snows every winter, but that doesn't happen anymore here. Weather patterns changed for us in the early 80's. I know this doesn't mean a thing to you guys "up North" but it's pretty major news here. :) Not as big as the blizzard that totally paralyzed the South in 1993, but it's still big. That blizzard is something I hope to NEVER see again. Probably a typical winter storm for some of y'all but it shut us down for almost two weeks. We aren't prepared, set up, or experienced for winter weather like that.

and it will shut the state down! :surrender::lmfao:
Too funny! I like watching souther folk drive in that stuff! :surprised:
We wouldn't even blink if that happened up here.
All kidding aside, if you get some, be sure to get pics and have fun! But be safe!

Lisa, maybe you could move down South to where my friend lives in Greensboro,Alabama? WHOOPS! :bouncy: Maybe not, I just checked his weather and he is colder now than we are here in Missoula, Montana! I think I'll stay up here to keep warm. Hey, GREAT IDEA!!!!!!! Move over Steve! We're all moving in with you until It WARMS up where we are. :chase:

No, I don't want that much!!!! A good 5 or 6 will do nicely! When we had the blizzard back in 93, depending on where you were, we had 24-32 inches here - basically over night. I NEVER want to see that again!!!! EVER!!!!!!!!!!

A 1/2 inch wouldn't bother us either; it's what comes UNDER it that presents the problems for us. What people up North don't realize is that when we finally do get some snow, nine times out of ten, we have a layer of ice underneath. It's a whole different ballgame down here. The weather is warm or cool when it starts to rain. The rain will then turn into freezing rain and/or sleet when the cold air starts to filter in. We get a light (sometimes heavy) covering of ice, and then it all turns to snow and covers the ice. THAT's where the driving problem comes in. The ice underneath the snow is the problem. It almost NEVER just starts to snow; the ice usually comes first due to it being too warm here to just start snowing. However, this week, IF it snows here, it should be snow right from the very beginning. They've already dropped the chance from 60%, to 40%-50%, depending on where you are. Hope they don't take it out of the forecast like they usually do.

Well, Lisa, since you do want the white, cold stuff, I hope you get some but not too much and NO ICE! Here in MO we've had sleet, ice and then the white flakes accumulating to quite a depth....depending on the winds...many winters!

If they cancel the weather report for you having some, I imagine there are a lot of southern folks praying that it won't be falling or accumulating down there! You'll just have to pray harder for it and also pray that no one will be hurt or killed by it when it does come! It is 19 degrees today with a low of 5 degrees tonight.....warming up tomorrow to 22 degrees with a 11 degrees at night! But not in the single digits during the day, as yet, which we have had in the winters past, but heard we are supposed to be getting some really cold weather....January & February are usually our coldest month with ice, &/or sleet, and deep, white flakes! Can't stand to be out very long when it is near zero or below and lots of icy wind blowing....freezes the tears in my eyes and my lungs when trying to breathe the cold air!

May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

caught ya! Now I see where you are swearing on the forum! You said the "S" word! You know the cold white stuff that we can't dig
because of! Yup that is a 4 letter word here! :nono::lmfao:

You will get to play in it on the ole four wheeler.

Hope so!
