Was getting pretty down on my luck. Hadn't found a silver coin for the month of June yet. Got allot of hours logged. Day off today, up at 6, out to new old high school by 6:35. NO FLIPPING BATTERY! Forgot it on charger. ( I really should dig out that emergency double A pack and leave it loaded in the truck).

Okey back on site by 7:30. It's hotter than heck already. Sweating buckets by 8:30. The only shade was provided by the swarm of nats above my head.

9:00 I've had it, one clad quarter, one junk medallion, and a small handful of pennies.

New old high school a bust. Field was nothing but a old building demo site with hot rocks, and nails with a few zincons sprinkled on top

Next new spot a small park in a 1800z neighborhood. Air temp 84,humidity ? well if it was any higher it would have been raining. An hour plus there and I determine the park is what used to be an old brick building site. Lots of iron and no shade. Natts are again in full force but now they are joined with a squadron of ankle biting flies and back biting mosquitos. Outta there by noon and headed for the shower.

Thought I'd stop by an old park I had some luck in last year, it was on the way home anyway. Besides, the van a/c cooled me off a bit and I had plenty of ice cold water.

Was really wondering if this park was worth another shot, I had hunted the whole thing last year except the intier baseball field which I determined had some fill brought in not to long ago. Not much of anything out there. The area left is small but original dirt. Got 3 mercs and a bunch of wheats last year. Well I thought the really trashy areas has got to have some silver under all the trash and zinc pennies. Maybe I'll just pick away at some of surface trash and go real slow with the stock coil.

A pull tab here a screw cap there and low and behold a couple wheats poked through. 6 wheats later I get a 12.35. Another screw cap that must be removed. But not this time. First thing out of the hole was a bent up square tab, off to the side and deeper my TRX:super: indicated the elusive screw cap. Jabbing and dragging my gasket scraper back towards my small plug out pops a large silver circular rim. What the heck, another 1952 Benny, my second one for the year.

The humidity started blowing out with the northwest breeze that started blowing in so I decided to stay awhile and try this somemore, a few more wheats later I get this really high pitch signal. I mean 12.47 to 12.49. Hitting both ways but I'm 99% sure this is a bent rusty nail that I'm going to chase for the next 10 minutes. Dig a 4" deep plug and my TRX says it's center plug but deeper. That's weird, rusty nails are never dead center. About 2.5 " more down and out pops another silver rim. This time a 1945 liberty.

So Ben saves the day and the month for that matter. Not to mention Sube who let me know that signals can run higher when in ground coin. Normally I would have left that signal knowing it was just another rusty bent nail. So thanks Sube! :super:

WTG coondog as I always say the trash is where the coins still are just have to have patience . Hunting trash really speeds up your learning on this and any detector so many different combinations of junk and coins when you dig in trash you learn . Great coins and you earned them  sube
