Went detecting a few days ago and finally hit my small fortune of coins. The total number was more than I found the last six months detecting. I go out about once a week or every other week. I won't give you all the details, just a quick overview.
Got up about 4:00 AM, packed a lunch and got to my location about 6:30 A M , . Tried several places and only picked up a few coins and allot of trash. About 3:30 that afternoon, I scanned this one location with my 1500 and the detector fluttered. Initially I thought it was some scrap metal but the tone was a little different so I started to dig. Heaven behold, I saw clumps of coins weathered and a blueish green color caked on each coin. The more I dug the more coins I exposed. Got a little excited and looked around to see if anyone was around, good to go. I took my home made sifter and started to sift the sand to retrieve my coins. I spent about 2 hours digging and sifting my small fortune. I took my 1500 and scanned the area and it covered about a 8 foot diameter area with that fluttering sound. By this time I was really excited but had to stop half way thorough my dig. A bad storm moved in and it was raining dogs and cats. Went to the truck but it would'ny let up. Will definitively go back for my other half.
I waited a couple of days to post this so I could clean up the coins to reveal the dates. Unfortunately nothing old, the newest coin is dated 2000 and the oldest one is 1962.
