BEST FINDS AND WHAT I HAVE LEARNED ABOUT THE T2

Hey i just thought i would post my last couple of weeks best finds.
Also i wanted to add what i have learned using the T2 the past 8 months.
I have used it heavily since i got it and it is the only really good detector i have ever owned.
I would have to say the most helpful thing i have learned is how to search in the 0 disc mode.I cant really search with any discrimination anymore because im feeling like im missing targets.
I use 21 if its just to trashy with nails.
You most definately get a big boost in 0 disc..
The 2+ tone mode is really the only mode i use.
I never change the frequency from F4 unless i absolutely have to..It does change the way the T2 picks up the targets.
Sensitivity is up to you i guess as much as you can without it being to chattery.I usually never go below 85 or so.
In 0 disc the T2 does grab coins, etc that the iron was masking.
With these settings i have went back to places i have pounded and got lots of finds just like the ones here..

1795 spanish reale

1828 half cent..my first

1852 large cent

1941 merc dime

1951 silver dime

Standing liberty quarter.....no date

2 Rhode Island civil war era military buttons..."Thats where i live Rhode Island"

religious medallion and a tiny colonial buckle..

Detecting in New England is great!!! It is the oldest part of the country...

So using the T2 with 0 discrimination allows it to unmask silver in iron better in your opinion? I've got to check this out .... thanks for the info :)

Hey Jay not all this stuff was in iron but in 0 disc i can get that quick target that i couldnt have with discrimination.
It definately takes time to get used to..

So far I haven't run mine below 21, I'm gonna give it a try and see how it works out..... in the 2+ tone I bet it goes alot deeper at o disc.... What are the differences in detection depth & ID on good targets that you've noticed? I find most coins are in the 2"-5" range sometimes 7"-8" I have found deeper iron/copper/aluminum targets in the 10" range one Silver ring (My first with the T2) was 9" I believe but if I remember right I was running around 30-40 on disc when I found the first ring. I usually find rings in the 2"-4" range here though, most of the time they'll still be in the root system in the grass/weeds.

By quick targets i mean when you are in iron or trash that fraction of a second when it throws up a good vid reading..
Im sure there is some technical term but i keep it simple...

If the iron is masking it,and you have your T2 at 40 it will disregard the target.
If you have it at 0 you can hear the iron and that good target. It will be faint but the T2 will vdi it sometimes..
You have to pay very close attention. It takes a while to get used to 0 but once you do you will use it all the time..

when i used the sovereign i could hunt at full disc.and still get all the coins. i guess the sovereign is better in iron. i think i've found one wheat penny with the t-2 in places i've hunted with the sovereign. thanks.

I tried to use my T2 today in 21 disc mode..The machine ran pretty quiet and i felt like missing targets...
Basically your T2 is not chattering your not using it to its potential..
Also i do not use headphones...I think this helps with some of the noise the T2 makes...It can be an annoying detector...

Basically in a nutshell, since i have been using 0 disc i have been finding more treasure...Maybe its coincidence but i don't think so.
I always try running the sens at 99 but it seems to jump around a bit in some cases.
I usually run the sens at 95.
Well i hope i helped someone..

Nice finds... if you use disc=21 you may as well use one tone and try digging some of the higher iron tones they may be down averaged goodies. Especially at places that have stopped producing much but used to.

With disc=0 you may as well use 2+ over any other tones because you are going to get a grunt on everything under 40... but using one tone with disc=0 you will hear a lot of tones (all the same pitch) but you may be able to pick out some nicer sounding iron range tone to dig that may be goodies in iron or may be collectable iron. DP may work good in disc=0 too... I can't remember if everything below 40 is a grunt in DP but I don't think it is.

On the LTD models AM is quieter than Disc... I have an original T2 6.0 ... I need to check that out next week. I've spent too much time lately fooling with the F LTD and V3... i'm about done with the F LTD, but i'd like to try a T2 SE (LTD) but am going to wait for the Teknetics G2... that, I think will be my next detector to try... it is getting rave reviews for working in iron. I am hearing that the G2 unmasks in iron better than anything... it will have to really do some going to beat the E-TRAC for unmasking, but that is what some are saying... there are some G2 test results at NASA Tom's place.

One thing is certain... the T2 changed everything when it came out. Nothing will ever change that. There were some shocked people on a planned hunt in VA when the T2 was used on the Bounty Hunter team... and BHcame in 2nd place after Nautilus... you'll never convince me that Nautilus didn't have some advantage. All the hunters found out the evening before the hunt about the site... we were taken out into the middle of a 20k acre site and let loose. the Nautilus team knew exactly where to go... I think some of the T2 team discreetly followed them and it wasn't appreciated, but oh well...

The T2 really made a statement that weekend... who ever expected Bounty Hunter to compete with and almost beat Nautilus. IIRC, the personal best was indeed a T2 user.

I don't know what machine will bring the next big shock to the scene... but I am waiting!! I don't expect it to be the G2, I think the G2 is just another refinement of what the T2 started and running at 19khx... it will be a relic and gold magnet. The Garrett AT-PRO is being hyped terribly. it will never live up to the hype and in fact if you look at it's feature set it borrows from all the best of FTP and Minelab. So it isn't the next shock to the system... something is coming from somewhere though... you can bet on it. I think VLF is pretty well maxed out unless someone figures a way to use a chip that is really a lot more powerful, but heat is still a problem there I think. With enough processing power VLF might do things we never dreamed of... maybe someone will make a detector that takes TID to a whole new level... to even isolating the target and analizing the metallic makeup accurately... that would shock the system... maybe a pulse machine with an accurate TID and lightweight... maybe a combo pulse and VLF... maybe really can see the shape of a target in the ground and display it... maybe a machine that has enough processing power and smart enough software to actually read and completely ignore any trash you scan into it by metal makeup.. and not even chirp on a pulltab while hitting hard on a nickel or gold ring... totally ignoring the ground.

Who knows... maybe a coil with a small, thin cable reaching out a foot in front of the search coil with a small concentrated groundprobe on it so that when the searchcoil gets to the ground, the detector already has a read on any mineral changes or iron up ahead so that it will adjust itself in advance, better detecting good targets with no falsing... who can tell the future... not me, but I can dream... and dreams do come true!

Im gonna get 12X10 sef coil and try out my settings with that..Then ill go back to the spots i think are pounded out and see what i come up with...
