Best settings for deep silver

kschae4,

I am kind of new on the Safari, so, you are saying that RELIC mode works very well on Deep Silver, and that it works better than COINS-JEWELRY moode?

Thanks a million for your observation. I will give it a try.

There is really no difference between the coin-jeweley mode and relic mode. The coin-jewelry mode has a couple of more numbers notched out then relic mode and it uses conductive tones and icons. The relic mode uses ferrous tones and has no icons. It would be up to the user on which tones he likes best. . Some people don't like the icons and ferrous sounds and will cross save to the relic program (relic disc, conductive tones and no icons), and you could do a vice versa to the coin and relic program (coin and jewelry disc, ferrous tones, and Icons). I personly like running without the icons and use conductive tones. I would concentrate more on sensitivity and noise cancel. I would run the sensitivity in manual as high as location will allow without falsing and noice cancel often with the coil on the ground.

Well said, John. NC, personally speaking, yes. Like other Safari newbies (2yrs ago) I started /hunted mostly in coin & cj mode (condutive tone per the book "Mastering the Quattro") . Got a little better at recovery, memorizing tids for common recoveries, developed my audio skills and shifted gradually to relic mode (ferrous sounds). I prefer hunting woods, fields and parks as opposed to the beach. Some silver will be deep and in relic mode may actually point to the " i" in silver on the graph id bar on the screen. To avoid getting fooled ( still happens) I switch to all metal mode and hope the tid remains 38-39 validating a good signal and worth recovering.
