Had some free time yesterday afternoon so I decided to hit the park. 30 mins after I was there....a buddy with his mxt showed up. We have gone out many times to hunt. I had only found about 15 coins when he arrived. He has been hunting for about 10 years more than me and is a die hard Whites guy. He is very good with his mxt.

After hunting for about 5 hours...we compared our totals....he had about 30 clad coins or so and no jewelry. I had 152 (3-70%) clad coins, 3 (1-14kt)rings and one 10kt necklace with pendant. I noticed that the clasp on the chain was missing....after a little bit of searching.....I located that as well. 152 coins was my best total ever for only hunting 5 hours...as it was dark. My friend is very skilled with his mxt but I have this question???.....Am I getting better.....or was it the Etrac???.....or maybe alittle of both???: Makes me wonder....
:twodetecting:

I'd say....."a little of both". Nice work!

Very cool finds. I still have not found any gold...

thanks! It will happen....keep lookin!:O

Looks like your digging ALOT of low and mid tones (foil & p.tabs) to find all that gold.
Thats incredible for just one day.
Congrats!

You had a busy day! Thanks for the picture.

Thanks and yes for about 5 hours of hunting....not too bad! A few pull tabs did fool me but actually not that many and they came up number wise...like a nickel mostly. A few I thought were something good and were not. I have learned in my soil that the etrac tends to lock on good things and jumps around and things that are not. Im talking numbers all over the place. I have not once found a ring or jewelry that was jumping around in numbers, even the deeper stuff. I keep checking to make sure and if the numbers bounce a lot....its always a pull tab.

As far as the foil goes....etrac is great there too! The numbers usually always say around 12-1, 12-2...I check most the time....and its always foil. I know its probably possible that I am missing something good that would register like foil but havent found that to be the case....yet. As I understand it....IF the gold were good enough and significate enough...it would register with better numbers. Most of my good gold finds have been in the 12-20 to 12-41 area. I think the lowest numbers that I have had for finding gold is around 12-7.

Very nice !

Congratulations on the great finds.
I too found a nice 10K gold ring this spring using the Etrac.
The ring gave a very solid 12-5 the best I can remember.
I doubted it was anything good until I dug past the pine chips and down into the dirt. At over 7" deep the ring came into view. Needless to say I dug up everything in the area that afternoon.
