Big Silver and Big Surprise

So I was detecting in a yard I have many times before. Records show 1900 as the year the house was built but I believe due to a fire years ago that burnt many of the town records that the records are not correct. I have found coins ranging from barber dime to wheaties to buffalo nickles but never expected this to come out. 1831 Capped Bust half dollar in excellent condition. Still in shock. Thanks for looking, HH

Wow!!! Just found a beautiful bust half dime and I was in shock!
I’d have a heart attack!
Guy that lost that lost a weeks pay!!

What a spectacular find!

MKUS is right ... that was a week's pay for somebody. They must have spent a lot of time looking to try to find it.

Cheers,

Joe

:surprised: What a beautiful coin! Congratulations on a super nice find!!

Congratulations SilverSal! I would be walking on the clouds for a week if I dug a beauty like that! Best of luck and...

Happy Hunting!

My goodness that is amazing! They are some of the most beautiful designs!

Wow.. what a beautiful coin.. amazing find.. congrats

That coin is what detecting is all about. At least to me it is. Awesome! :clapping:

Thanks for all the great comments. I'm still in shock. But it gets better...went back to same yard Sunday and found my first seated dime, 1876. 2 bucket listers in same yard in a week. I better enjoy it because it may be a while before it happens again.

That's a beauty! My house records go back to 190? but those sanborn fire insurance maps will tell you if anything was there before, check them out if you haven't. My place was a brick yard and the maps show bld locations and wells and what they were used for, office or what ever their purpose was.

This is one of those coins when you find it your breath stops along with your heart for a second or two. Congrats

Exactly. I stared at it for a few then immediately called my hunting buddy.
