Out detecting today and stopped by a old school in town, but the grass hadn't been cut. It was just to tall to be productive, so went out in front of the school to hit the curb strip. I noticed an older gentleman sitting on the front porch across the street watching. So I walked over and asked him when his house was built. He stated 1950, I asked him if he want to see what was in his front yard & he stated help yourself. It was a small front yard and was only listening for silver tones when he stated that he had lost a ring somewhere in the yard. Then I start digging most repeatable signals. Only few clad & a wheat, shell casing, scrap metal. Then getting ready to leave I scan around some bushes next to the driveway and this comes out about 6-7" deep. Finally get to take this off my bucket list. Plan on going back & try to located his ring. If I could pass on one thing, take time to talk to people. I had a great time getting to know this gentleman, he had a very interesting life & was very informative on the history of the community that I enjoy detecting.
