I decided to take the day off being it was my birthday and headed down to a area that is known to have produced some old coins. I was working in the trash and getting a constant variety of tones when I got a loud 26 on digital about 6 inches down. Knowing that a few targets such as Indians, tokens, and some newer pennies hit in this range but are a little lower in tone. I thought it might be a good target, but I had no idea when this huge disc of silver came out of the ground. An 1883S Morgan Dollar...My first one!!! To say I was elated is an understatement.
After putting it in my finds pouch I continued working the trash when I hit another 26 on digital about the same depth as the last one. This one sounded sharp but with a slight low tone with it. I dug down and could hear it with my probe so I dug a little further and out popped a 1947 Walking Liberty Half along with a rusted bottle cap. 2 big silvers in one day, what a rush!!
The silver gods were smiling down on me today.
