Got out on the first few hunts of 2013 ... a short hunt after work on Friday and all of Saturday afternoon.
Been down for almost three weeks now because of all the snow - it sure was great to hear those E-Trac tones again !
It went up to over 60 degrees, rained real hard and all of the snow melted here in Ohio - mud, mud, mud and even some more mud !
The good news is all of the rain and snow made the ground highly conductive.
It's a lot easier to hit the very deep targets in wet ground - most of these coins were 8" to 9" down.
I went back to a few sites that have produced good finds in the past - two abandoned 1800's houses and a old town park.
Found the 1902 V - Nickel, 1945 Quarter and one of the Wheat Cents at the Park.
The 1909 Barber Dime, 1907 Indian Cent, 1929-D Mercury Dime and the other Wheat Cents were found at the two abandoned houses.
Both the V-Nickel and Mercury Dime are toasted - but I was still able to read the dates on both of them.
The V Nickel is in horrible condition from being in the ground for so long - the Mercury Dime was found approx. 6" down in a gravel driveway - it's been driven over a lot.
I'm not complaining - I'm just thankful it wasn't the Barber that got run over by a car few hundred times !
