Digging here in W Tn in many places is near impossible. Consequently, I opted to swing along the edges of parking lots on this particular site as the grass is thicker and seems to have held moisture a little better then the more flat, unprotected spots. Actually, except for running into small rocks in places, digging wasn't to bad. After spending a couple hours along the slabs and little to show for my efforts, I drove to the big field that Gerald, Rick and I had hunted last week and tabman and Rick yesterday, where tabman got his silver Rosie. Digging was tough out in the field, so decided to work the ditch that runs the length of the field and along side of a road. Digging here was quite a bit better. The slopping ditch probably didn't get as a direct hit from the sun and being a shallow ditch perhaps held moisture a little better. Although targets here were few, I did get a couple pieces of junk jewelry, a few more modern coins, 3 wheats and the well worn Standing Liberty half. She appears to be a 1937. She was partially on edge from about 4" deep. I flipped the clod over and ran the coil over the dirt and got an ear drum busting high tone hit. I pretty much knew what it was before I saw the coin as the readings were well into the 90's. The first thing I saw after carefully starting to move the dirt around was the wide edge. My camera was in my SUV about 150 yards away, but I wanted a shot of that coin fresh from the ground. Had the 5" coil on the Omega and running 99 sen, disc 1, d3 tones and a g b of 60-65. HH jim tn
