Bob, You made a 5"x9" O-style coil for a Soverign. You did a very good job.
I am impressed with how well it worked and its dept.
Will you post wire size.TX and RX, resistance of TX and RX coils
and number of turns in TX and RX coils.
If you are unable to post, use my E-mail fjs5015@yahoo.com
Thanks

I can give some of what you asked for but not all. I don't count turns. Stock 10 inch BBS has around 40 turns TX and 25 RX so I wrap either more of less depending on the size of my coil. I then measure my uH and either add or subtract turns. You want to end up close to the following.

TX 1.01uH and an R around 2 ohms

RX .440uH and a R around 5 ohms

Not sure on the wire size TX is probably about 22awg and RX is about 30awg. I believe the stock 10 inch BBS uses 21awg and 29awg. These measurements coincide with using an AD797 pre-amp. Some of the earlier coils came with the LT1028 and the RX measured lower, closer to .400uH. For best performance stick with the AD797.

If you need any more help just ask.

Bob

Thanks Bob. A BBS coil is a hard coil to make. I have old type pre-amp,The coil will
be a good late summer project.
I am tinkering with a G2 ,just made a small 00 coil TX and EX coils just under 2"each with #30 wire
about 25 and 30 turns.its not bulkey, its about 4"x2". it worked detected a nickel at 4-1/4" in house
with no shield.
