Broke in my new to me E-Trac...

Well...I took her out on her maiden voyage this afternoon...just a drift around the pond. My very first coin...and only coin...was a 1934 P wheatie at 6". But hey...I only sailed her about 45 minutes. Still learning the ropes. Found out that auto sensitivity is a lot quieter but losses some depth. The numbers were a lot more stable in auto sensitivity too. I think I'm gonna like the ole gal a lot. But time will tell. HH.....:detecting:

I'm right behind you,...as my etrac will be here Tuesday!

I usually tell the new E trac folks to not worry too much about the sensitivity being maxed out to get the nth degree of depth out of the E trac for the first while. Just get used to the way she works with it as stable as possible and get used to the sounds and function of the detector. It will get target hits at great depths with solid stability and surprise you but lots of new folks think they have to crank everything up and force the odd scarcly audible signal from the depths of china before they learn the simplicity of the machine.

Take your time and have fun.

good luck,

Sounds Like Great advice for me...thanks utahshovelhead

Good luck with your new machine ! :detecting:

true, i would suggest leaving it in auto +3 for the first 10 hunts or so. learn to drive it before you slam the pedal to the metal.

Thanks for all the advise folks! I am going to take things nice and slow for a while and just learn what the old girl is trying to say.

I passed up some signals on that first hunt that sounded sweet and looked deep...but just too dry to dig that far.

I have a lot of confidence when I go out with my ETrac...it's like we are made for each other. HH and thanks again!
