Mark in S.E. IA said:morelic, your saying that ML well warranty one that is three years old. I broke the tabs off on my 10.5DD coil this summer and I didn't think that they would warranty a coil that old so I glued them back on. Damn, I should of called them first. oh well, my fix it job seems to be working so far.
Cliff KS said:I got my X-70 out today to go detect a yard and one of the ears had broken off my 3 kHz coil, right through the bolt hole and the piece above the hole was gone --- nowhere to be found ---so I have nothing to glue back on. I put my 6" DD on and went detectin' and found five coins but the oldest was only a '58 wheatie and it had been dinged and nearly cut through on the edge by a lawnmower or weedeater blade.
I noticed that my 6" DD has a lot thicker ears on it than either of my 9" coils. If they can make the 6" that way, why don't they make the ears on the 9" coils as thick so they will be stronger as well? Wouldn't make a noticeable weight difference.
Mark I just found my 9" stock coil ear broke and it is past three years. Where can I get the Betaseal U-418.Mark in S.E. IA said:John(Tx), I used " Dow Betaseal One Urethane Adhesive " and the red cap primer. I think the primer number is " 5500d " or you can use Betaseal U-418
If you need to glue a x-terra coil let me know and I'll explain things a little better and tell you where you can find this urethane.
Treasurechic: Where did you get the washers and what size are they and do you have the part number if they were from a franchise like Lowes or ACE hardware. .Treasurechic said:This is obviousely a common problem because my stock coil broke the same way! The attachements seem too flimsy and thin, if you try to tighten it too much they break, but if you dont tighten it enough the coil is very loose, I too had no idea that it would be covered by warranty and made repairs myself, I used a rugged cement/ glue and 2 vinyl washers, I attached the washers to each side and it worked perfect and its very sturdy, not too mention I can now tighten the coil correctly. My question now is since I repaired it will that void me sending it to Minelab for replacement? I should have asked BEFORE repairing it I guess because it seems that if you were to only add 2 more thin rubber washers it would be perfect.

Donut said:I am going to try some acetone on some spare plastic. Maybe I can get it to bond together. I went to Lowe's today and got some 1/4" X 1 1/4" rubber washers to put on my other coils if they fit. I noticed when I put my 10" round coil that the ears were bending in a little and i don't like that at all. I'm hoping to try the washers tomorrow.
I don't know if I will be able to get one washer in each side or only on one side. Its raining to hard outside right now to do anything.
If any one else has any good Ideas on what could be used to bond the peaces together. I don't think any normal glue will work because of the stress in the joint.
