Since the NOX target ID goes to 40.. and the illustration in the Brochure and Guide show 37-38 notched out.. any ideas what that target might be.. screwcap? zincoln (I wish..LOL) Any guesses?

Rich

So if, as per the Equinox 800 specifications, the target ID is as such:

50 segment notch discrimination | Ferrous: -9 – 0 | Non-ferrous: 1 – 40

Why does the Equinox at the top of the forum, show a TID of 46?

Your'e right the target reads 36 , quite a few zones are notched out including 37-38..

We can't judge by Marketing pictures that are not accurate by any stretch of the imagination.

it may read the TID# but no tone if that part is discriminated. Just a guess

Interesting, someone changed the TID on the Equinox photo at the top of the forum, it used to show a TID of 46, now it shows 36....just like that, it's magic.:starwars:

Umm . If it has 40 above Iron and Iron is pointless numbers. It means there are fewer number on the Equinox than on the Terra 705 .
It means people that go by numbers wont be able to discrim as much . Is a valid point .

Minelab needs to answer that one.

Good point & yes they do to your last sentence.

We updated Minelab's photo last week as per Minelabs request...
So I guess Guvner is the magician

I would like to see many more numbers on the Equinox instead of fewer than the Terra .

There are 25 on xterra and 40 on the E. Xterra is only even numbers so the E has greater target resolution.

Hope your right . But could do with even more than that .

Richard this is Minelabs direct response to your question/concern about the Equinox!

Hi Richard, The picture showing the number 46 was incorrect. A simple error occurred here and has now been corrected. Irrespective of this, the picture is just meant to be indicative of the EQUINOX display in use (not an instructional guide). It is possible to show 46 on the display, but not as a target ID number. We apologise for any confusion this may have caused. You can view the EQUINOX Getting Started Guide here: https://www.minelab.com/__files/f/321956/4901-0248-1%20GSG,%20EQUINOX%20600%20800%20EN_WEB.pdf The X-TERRA 705 target ID goes to 48, but this is not the discrimination resolution of the detector. With X-TERRA 705, there are 4 ferrous segments and 24 non-ferrous segments for a total of 28. The EQUINOX target ID goes to 40, but that is not a lesser resolution than X-TERRA 705. With EQUINOX, there are 10 ferrous segments (-9 to 0) and 40 non-ferrous segments (1 to 40) for a total of 50. This is approx. 78% more resolution than X-TERRA 705 and 98% of Safari (51 segments). EQUINOX (with Multi-IQ technology) will give superior performance to X-TERRA (with VFLEX technology) on the beach because it is a simultaneous multi-frequency detector. This enables it to better measure 'salt noise' and 'hear' weaker target signals amongst this noise. Higher frequencies are more susceptible to salt than lower frequencies. By measuring the salt signal across more than one frequency, a multi-frequency detector has many more datapoints available to accurately process this information and run at a higher sensitivity than a single frequency detector will be able to, under identical conditions. For someone mainly wanting to hunt at the beach, the EQUINOX 600 is recommended over the X-TERRA 505. For someone wanting a beach detector with an inland gold prospecting option, the EQUINOX 800 is recommended over the X-TERRA 705. Regards, Minelab

Thanks for the info.
I think to better understand it i will have to see it .
Interesting that the Equinox has almost as many segments as the Safari and is almost the same price in the UK too. Could kill sales of the Safari ?
Really cant wait for mine now , wish it was out now .

Richard
